I have a friend who is an avid knitter and a avid Who fan. I think that since she is new to Who she is a bit shy to ask this but I'm going to ask for her.
Last fall she knit me a beautiful Tom Baker Who Scarf and I suggested that since she enjoys knitting and Who she should make some effort to sell them, especially since right now she is inbetween jobs due to a lay off at her company. However, we are both at a loss of where to start on this. So I thought I'd ask the kind people of this board for some help and a bit of a poll.
Would people be interested in purchasing Who scarves? If so how much would you think is a good cost range? Have people done this in the past? Was it a disaster? Is it okay to advertise on a board like this in the marketplace or over at OG Forum. She was thinking of doing them to order, so you could pick the season's scarf you like best, so I don't think it would be many to start with but it would be something fun to do.
Any feedback would be welcome.

Have you thought about opening an eBay shop? Lots of worldwide exposure and you could take payments through PayPal.
I'd buy one at the right price but I bet wool is really expensive. Where in the world are you? |

My mom knitted one for me about twenty-five years ago. She just retired this past year and is still an avid knitter. I was jokingly suggesting to her that I should put her to work making Who scarves that I can sell online.  |

I knit her a Who scarf and myself a Who scarf. They can be very expensive aka real [nice] wool or chenille or they can be more affordable if done in a soft acrylic. It would depend on what the wearer would want and how authentic they would want it.
By me hand making a scarf, per commission. I could have the customer choose the level of yarn expense they would want, what season pattern, how wide the customer would want it versus the original and how long the customer would also want it, versus the original. I thought this customization to the wearer could/would be a selling point.
It would be a hand knit scarf, made by a Who fan, for a Who fan. Made to order for that customer, for possibly as cheap as $100 (using acrylic yarn)
If I do try to do this, it will probably be through the crafting www.etsy.com website rather than EBay...that way I could take orders rather than sell a finished project.
What do you all think?
