Today I have watched the first 11 episodes of TW series 1. I've been putting it off for months because frankly I thought I hated it after I saw episode 1 when it first aired on BBC3.
All I can say is wow! I'm loving it! I wasn't keen on episode 2 but the rest have been ace.
It's 11pm here in the UK and I'm about to watch the final two parts, and then for series 2! |

P.S. It is of course possible that this message is a trap. If it is I can deal with it. P.P.S. I'm leaving this note in case I can't!

Although I do have issues with Torchwood there are two standout episodes for me.
In Series 1 - Out of Time
And Series 2 - the last episode - Exit Wounds

Like every series, it has its stronger and weaker stories.
I remember reading during the filming of the first series that the executive producers were not totally pleased with what they saw early on in the production and put more focus in the oversight of production. Most people would agree that the series improved as it went on, the only difference is the number of episodes it took for the series to hit its stride. |

| Yes Dave, I liked Out of time too - a brilliant idea. Countycide really freaked me out! Random shoes was an interesting one, reminded me of Love and Monsters a little bit. And I didn't realise that Mickey Smith wrote the one where the weevils were getting kidnapped. |

i couldn't get into torchwood.
and beleive me i tried! it's just that it doesn't click with me. i mean, all the mature content feels like it was forced in there. like they were trying to hard to say "this show is for adults!!"
and that episode with the little village family of cannibals, they pretty much stole that idea from the texas chainsaw massacre. |

For me - both series were a complete roller-coaster, swinging from the sublime to the ridiculous.
There were a couple of episodes that I hated, but there were was some great stuff.
If you've not seen series 2 don't read this;
For me, series 2 was far stronger, but having seen him shot and supposedly killed in an astonishingly good episode, the whole sort of but not quite un-dead Owen thing completely got on my nerves. But then the final episode was a masterpiece that wrapped it all up nicely.
I thought series 2 was definitely the stronger. In places I'd even go so far as to say it was exceptional.

Small Worlds?
I much prefer Season 2 to season 1 mainly because I'm a fan of Gareth David-Lloyd (Ianto) and his parts are quite small in Season 1. Also because I found the first season seemed rather cold and distant. The actors meshed better in the second season and production seemed far better. |

I liked Day One, but that's probably just 'cause I thought the actress who played Carys was cute. |

I agree, they really fleshed out his character in series 2 compared to series 1 where he was little more than Alfred the butler in Batman.

They both explain why I prefer Season 2.
- Bigger Ianto role
- Better meshed cast. |

| I've just finished watching the last episode of series 2. Quite shocked by the ending! Really enjoyed it, more than I thought I would. I'm going to listen to the radio 4 episode later. |
