[Quote by: tarashnat]It seems that Jack, Owen and Gwen get good exposure week after week, and so far Tosh, Ianto, and Suzie have each only had substantial parts in two episodes each.

Jumping the gun by not reading through all the posts, but I wonder if this show was the one shot semi-concurrently with last week's. Was there more Tosh in the last ep? |

| Okay, I'm a few weeks behind on Torchwood, but I finally sae this one. Uuuuggh! Come on, I liked Love Actually, and many other deeply romantic and intelligent stories. However, this series is no place for this kind of thing. Don't get me wrong, I think that Torchwood should continue to be written well, but really this series has it's own genre and this episode strayed way too far from that genre. This kind of story belongs elsewhere and not here. I appreciate the producers of the show thinking outside the box a little and trying something different but let's get back on track now. |

Wow. Thanks for the link, Louis. That really amazes me. So does James' post that it's actually fairly popular with the non-Who fans of the UK public.
I agree that, Owen's story aside, this was (could have been?) one of the better episodes. Hell, even Owen's story minus the bad sex scenes and dialog wasn't terrible. Maybe they need to enforce a one-sex-scene-per-show rule. Every time we saw Owen in bed, my only thought was "why are you wasting limited story minutes for this??"

I don't even mind that the story was too far from genre. In my opinion, this show hasn't done a very good job defining what its genre is. So when they do something like this or the previous ep, it doesn't bother me at all. But this ep was giving me whiplash. I'd start getting into one of the other two stories and then Owen's sexcapades would take me right out of the story.
I'm ready for this show to end, and Life on Mars to start up again.
p.s. I liked Love Actually a lot, too. Bill Nighy is awesome. He was a killer Slartibartfast, too. |
