    Well I'm a dumbo!!

The first SJA airred today at 5pm on BBC 1 here in the UK - and I missed it!!

Forgot it was on 'til - well just now 5.52 - half-a-hour after it finished.

I'll have to use my new BBC rewatch iPlayer.

    Hope it was good.

This was the first part of a two part story.

Beware reading this Thread there will no doubt be Spoilers!

EDIT:- First spoiler is in the title of the first adventure:-

    'Revenge of the Slitheen'

Wow...looks like the OG forum has crashed - too much traffic caused by SJA?

I'll have to say that this has the makings of the best Doctor Who spin-off series. This story was a hit on many levels. I even liked the Slitheen in this story, considering that I thought that they were the weakest link of the first series of Doctor Who. Well, I guess it must be that someone other than Russell T. was able to give them whatever it was they were missing.

I felt that the actors portraying the children were brilliant. And having the Slitheen as man/boy in rubber suits rather than CGI added to the "realism" of the hunt scenes.

Yeah. Ive also watched both parts. Not a bad thing in itself but it bored the Misses... until the reveal at the end of ep one when she shouted Awww Cute! (I had to agree)

Fab way of making fat kids even more of outsiders than they were. Nice. (speaking as a fat kid/adult.

I know ive recorded the next 4 of my own podcasts but Im really tempted to do a show on it... what do you recon?

I'm downloading it now with BBC iPlayer - it works like a .torrent - downloading at the moment at a steady 600k or so and uploading at 240k.

One 25 minute episode is 328 Mbs in size.

Oh - and I can talk about it openly on this Forum as this is a fully legal download (with a TV licence)

    Cheers, daveac

Just add to the above - I'm now coming to the end of downloading Part 2 - haven't watched any yet as with these downloads you can only watch them once and I want to watch them together.

But the second episode that airred on the CBBC channel rather than BBC1 - is only 228Mbs in size for the same programme length ie 2/3 the file size.

I suppose the CBBC channel uses a lower bit-rate - lets hope the image is still OK.

Haven't read the thread yet, but I just finished watching parts 1 and 2 of Revenge of the Slitheen (thanks to my very cool car). It was cute and I enjoyed it. The Slitheen aren't my favorite aliens by any stretch. If we don't see them again for another year, I won't be sad. But it was a fun story. It's too bad they seemed to have dumped Maria's friend. She was a little annoying but not bad. I'll read through the thread and post more tomorrow.

    -L

    /-edit-/

I thought there would have been more posts. There were times that I would have preferred the CGI full-body aliens, but the suits mostly worked. And considering the show is specifically for children, I'm sure their imagination filtered out any arm joints that showed up on screen.

No one mentioned the hint of a dark side for Mr. Smith yet. I wonder what that's about. Smile

    /-edit 2-/

I also loved the throw-away line, "Love to the Brig." At least we know he's alive and kicking somewhere. Maybe he can appear on SJA if they can't give him a 40th anniversary appearance on Doctor Who in 2008.

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

hmmm.... I think I had my adult hat on while I watched these. It's not that I didn't enjoy them on the surfact I just got stuck on the crutch of the sonic lipstick saving the day (and SJS brandishing it like someone would have in a bad 70s exploitation flick or the Charlie's Angels TV show... ugh!).

I did like how all three kids helped get to the answer - especially how Clyde came up with the vinegar answer, very good sharing of the wealth.

Oh, and I can see that I'll be quite ready to hurt Maria's mom real soon (all about me, indeed!)

    supremacy is relative
