Kid friendly Torchwood?
Not sure about that - except I suppose it would mean that a 'tamer' version could also be sold to the main US broadcasters.
Me? Cynical....never!
here

Well it wouldn't take an awful lot of editing to remove the explicit stuff (shagging, swearing, etc) and broadcast it before 9.00pm, although I can't see them putting it on CBeebies just yet.
Who knows, it might even improve it a bit because - quality/consistency complaints aside - the majority of criticism levelled at the show was that it was just trying to shock for the sake of being shocking, not because it actually added anything to the story.
Of course, they might just decide to go a step too far and before you know it we'll have "Torchwood kids" featuring a load of star-struck stage school kids with their Sonic iPods (TM) and state of the art hover blades (TM), fighting crime while living a secret double life of dysfunctional ASBO weilding scumbags from the local council estate.
Hmm, do I sound cynical too?

Its a bit ridiculous. There is a dvd company in the US/Canada that takes movies and makes them "Christian and family friendly." That is immediately what came to mind after reading this news.
Now, having seen some of the shows that this company (I don't remember its name) has hacked up, I am not of the opinion that this is a good idea.
I'm even more worried that this Kid Friendly (read: hacked) version will be what is shown on BBC America, that would hack me off! |
