There will be spoilers!
Well a lot better start than Primeval.
Not sure now they will be able to do the 'early evening' version without chopping it up.
I hope Chaptain Jack keeps in a lighter mood.
Cheers, daveac

Oh boy. It's just finished (BBC3 repeat).
I dunno if anyone took any notice of my brief overview of the last 2 episodes of series 1, but nothings changed.
I didnt know if I was watching Firefly on acid, some sort of intergalactic version of Warhammer, some sort of intergalactic version of Queer As Folk, A Prodigy video, the best science fiction I've ever seen or the worst science fiction I've ever seen.
It was as macho as it was odd, and it was as odd as it was good.
I'm off to see the wizard. Then I'm going to bed. |

I watched the later repeat as well as the early showing - and speculation - BUT a big spoiler if right:-
White text to follow - regarding what Captain John said right at the end - and what it might mean:-
When He's says to Captain Jack that 'I've found Grey' - I think Grey will turn out to be Captain Jack's child!
If you remember in the very first episode of Series 1 he's says he was pregnant once

I haven't watched the episode yet, but I was just curious. Are they doing Torchwood Declassified again this year? I know they were only 10 minutes long but they were kind of interesting.

I believe that Torchwood Declassified will air after the pre-watershed cut-down version. That is a week after the full episode first airs. |

yes its on next week straight after the bbc2 "torchwood-Lite" showing.
To be honest I am ambivalent about this episode - the exposition fish just annoyed me and as for Spike.. I mean capt Jon. Hmmm (what voice was he doing?)
It is a marked improvement on last year. Hopefully a sign of better things to come. three and a half groans
Hmmm Torchwood groans.... sounds Very Rude! |

| Really enjoyable. Some very funny bits, the old lady at the beginning "bloody Torchwood", the Obi wan bit. Fast paced & very excting though I found the music a bit overbearing. Looking forward to the rest of the series. |

i thoroughly enjoyed this episode. it seems to me that torchwood is starting to hit its stride. the trailer at the end showed many exciting events in store for us this series. now that the character introductions from series one are over they can relax and just tell good stories. im looking forward to seeing martha in the hub the most. please check out CIA this week as we will be discussing this episode in our live show sunday at 1:00 eastern time. have a good week everyone
cheers

Maybe it was the exposition, maybe it was the inclusion of some of Jack's past, but I really enjoyed this episode.
and I agree with Dave's speculation about what Cpt. John said just before he vanished.
White text: I guess we'll have the chance to find out more next week.
Louis- should we put a [SPOILERS] in the title of this thread? I mean, Dave did warn us in the first post... |

Though it was fun to watch, and had quite a few teasers as to Jack's past, for some reason I would have loved to have seen more of a Jack-less Torchwood team.
I get the distinct feeling that this episode was a few set pieces loosely linked by that MacGuffin. At least those ideas didn't creep into my head until after the episode was over, so that must be an improvement over the slow start of last series.
Now, the Capt. John character was a little over the top, but interesting. |

| Just rubbing the sleep out of my eyes from the red eye flight. I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. My first thought was some chap has Nemo stuck on his head and then why does some old lady know about the secret organization Torchwood. Honestly, I think the show would be better without Jack. The team did quite well on their own and Jack just seemed to be there, going through the motions. Granted, this is just episode 1, so things could change, but I found myself struggling to watch it. I almost to switched over to Match of The Day. |

Not bad. A bit weird. Liked Adam Ant. It's been ages since I've seen him do anything.
Was that Abby? (There's a shot where he's pointing out hot chicks... one's walking with a man. She looks a lot like Abby from Primeval.)
Naturally I think Gray is the child. The quick shot of an adult's hand letting go of a child's makes it pretty obvious.

Good episode but why oh why does RTD have to keep reminding us that he created 'Queer As Folk'. The show would be a lot better if they got on with writing a good story (which in Torchwood, is very rare!), instead of putting in as much gay kisses as they can! Now I personally don't have anything against it, but many potential viewers don't want to see that kind of stuff, its sad but true.
For me, the top moment was James Masters. The scenes in the bar where fantasic and imho I think he's a better 'Captain John' than he was ever as 'Spike', in Buffy. I still can't figure out his accent, i'll have to watch it again!
(And before anyone says, Yes RTD didn't write the episode, but are you seriously telling me, as producer, or whatever he is, he doesn't oversee the scripts?)
I've done a proper review, on my blog here, if anyones intrested. |
