Here is the first actual story on the 11th Doctor (that I found).
It comes from Digital Spy:
here
Finally the Beeb announces it. Here is a link to the Doctor Who page (from the BBC):

Never really heard of matt smith before he doesn't appear to have been in that many things before judging by his imdb page,
guess we will just have to wait and see what the show has in store for him ,
although i was expecting an older actor guess i had been sucked in by all those paterson josesph rumours |

Maybe, with the younger casting, they can sign a three year (or longer) deal. Good Luck to the new Doctor Who team! |

Early on in the show they mentioned casting a 26 year old, I thought oh no, they've cast Russell Tovey!
So when I saw it was Matt Smith, my initial reaction was phew.
Then I thought that he'd have made a great 13th Doctor in about ten years time.
This is the first time a new Doctor will be younger than me (by a good ten years). Hope this doesn't make me feel like I'm suddenly watching a kids show!
But anyway, let's hope he's every bit as great as his predecessor and wish him all the best!

Found a little info on Matt Smith. Unfortunately it's from wikipedia so I can not vouch for it's accuracy.
Here's the link:

Here's another link to Matt Smith from IMDB. It doesn't have much more info.:
here
NOTE: He's 26. Doesn't that make him the YOUNGEST Doctor? |

A good choce. Quite Gothic looking as my wife said.
I don't think I would have been unhappy whoever they cast really. They've all done such a fine job over the last 45 years.
Here's looking forward to something familiar and yet something completely new. Bravo! |

I'm deeply disappointed it's not Chiewetel Ejiofor. I really thought he was going to get it. I've been wanting him in the role for more than two years now. Still, I suppose I'm glad it's someone of whom I've never heard, as that's generally worked out. Course, I'd never heard of Sylvester McCoy, either . . .
The thing that encourages me is the fact that he won it through specific audition. If Moffat was, on grounds of performance, "blown away" with "a bold and brand new take on the Time Lord", as Digital Spy are reporting, then I guess that's good enough for me. |

interesting. and now let the media frenzy begin!
I have to admit, in his clip on bbc, he reminded me of a young Robert Smith of The Cure, sans make-up, of course -- see:

I'm not sure what to make of this casting, to be honest. And it'll be a year of sitting here, twiddling my thumbs, because it'll be that long before series 5 premieres.
And yes, Matt Smith is younger than me by a year as well. That makes me feel old. |

| You know, I hadn't though about this before, but Smith will likely have filmed his whole series before the regeneration sequence is filmed. At the very least, Tennant will be filming his last episodes after Smith has completed his first ones. And the Tennant finale certainly has time to be influenced by the events of the fifth series. Unless they film in physically separate areas, RTD is gonna know what Moffat is up to. This business of RTD wanting to enjoy series 5 as a regular viewer is crap. Maybe it won't be a hard break between Ten and Eleven, after all. |

During the interview Matt Smith was asked what his Doctor will be like and responds that he doesn’t know and has six months to figure it out. Does that mean they will start filming the 2010 series in six months? He also said he has read scripts of episode 1 & 4… |
