| Despite watching Doctor Who since the 70's (Jon Pertwee area) I have never seen this story before apart from a few clips, but I managed to buy a copy on video from e-bay. I thought that perhaps a ten episode story may drag, but no, I thought it was wonderful! The action was relentless & a great story to boot. The acting was first rate. The sets & costumes were spot on (apart from the ray guns which were a bit naff). One of the good things about this adventure was that there were no dodgy monsters which is something that sometimes slighty spolied Patrick Throughton storys. What a tear jerking & moving goodbye to Zoe & Jamie at the end as well. All in all top stuff. I was wondering what other people who have watched it thought. |

Well I think talk about this story will feature heavily in the next Podshock - but yes I think it's a great adventure - although I think the acting ranged between great and (some parts) a bit weak.

I really liked the SIDRAT concept myself. First saw this on PBS, obviously with pledge breaks (those of you in the states will understand ) beacuse of the story legnth. Loved it and still have that tape, have since seen it in episodic form and appriciate it even more. Such a shame that we don't have more of Troughton's stories in their full glory, he was quite good indeed.
Cheers,

| I agree, a fantastic story and I look forward to adding my two cents in on the coming Podcast in regards to this story. |

Hi there.
Is there any indication as to when War Games will be released on DVD?

I did read on Wikepeda that it was slated for 2009 the 40th anniversary of the story. |

Yes I love this one. I wish they would hurry up and get it out on DVD...although they would probably need a 3-DVD set to fit any extras onto it.
I saw this one back the 1980's when my local PBS station exhausted all the JP-TB-PD & CB stories and hadn't begun showing SM. They started going back to WH and PT. I taped it off my PBS station way back when and have watched it many times on a rainy afternoon.
I always excited when he shouts out for the first time ever "The Time Lords!" |
