Destiny of the Daleks Views: 799

I just purchased Destiny of the Daleks. I am a thrid of the way through. Why does Rommana change her outfit? I think the the way her costume looks the same between her and the Doctor are cool. Rommana's outfit is more girly(is that how thats spelled?)of course. I think I might be able to get my Mother in Law to knit a long white scarf for my wife and we could be the Doctor and Rommana together. Yeah, Then I Woke Up.

This is one of the earliest adventures I remember from my youth (this and City Of Death). I remember the Daleks with the bombs strapped to them, voluntarily going to blow themselves up. That really struck a chord with me, I just couldn't understand the logic, which made them seem really alien and scary to my 5 year old mind.

My five year old self was also staggered to learn (from my Dad) that they were created for Doctor Who - apparently I'd always thought they were ancient creatures of legend like Martians, Zombies and Americans.

If half the art of survival is running away, the other half is knowing when to keep a straight face.

Upon watching it again, I felt a cold chill down my spine to realize that the Daleks' were essentially reduced to the modern suicide bombers of today (OUCH!).

By the way, I was surprised by the disc's optional CGI enhancements... they actually "enhanced" my appreciation of the episode.

    Go figure...

I see we have two threads with the same name. So I will point people to the older thread of the same name to continue this dialogue there:
