Here's a picture I took of Janet Fielding during a 1984 convention in Boston, Massachusetts. She turned around when I called out her name.
I always liked this shot.

Yes - she has a lovely smile.
I don't know if this picture is too wide (sorry Louis) but here goes ( it's one of my Dr Who Wallpaper's)

| Well I'm glad people enjoyed it. Maybe I should find a better scanner or something to get a higher resolution version if people want to "steal it." |

Well I have a few more from the same roll of film. But they're not quite as good.

I sat right next to her at the con's luncheon.

I think those a great pictures - especially the second one of the two.
Can you scan at a higher quality?
Are the originals low res or it it getting them scanned that's limiting the quality? You say they are on film - is that 35mm?
They are only 29k and 35k in size - have you used a lot of compression?
Thanks for posting anyway.

Here's a picture of Janet Fielding at a convention in the Philadelphia Area back around 1985.
Here is a picture of Janet Fielding with the actress who played Susan at a Doctor Who convention in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania back in 1985.

Here's a picture of Janet Field, the actress who played Susan, and Nicola Bryant at a Doctor Who convention in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania back in 1985.

Unfortunately, I was around 14 or 15 years old at the time and the camera I took didn't have a flash so there was a lot of blurring. I tried to filed the auto levels and sharpen them up a bit, but at least you'll get the idea.

Hey Mohan,
You had me closely examining that last photo... Not only was I there, I took a photo of Janet Fielding almost at the same time you took your photo. Here is my photo taken while she is holding the same rolled up home-made poster in her hand... I was looking for myself in the audience in the photo you took, but I suspect I was probably knelling in the front taking photo from the perspective of my shot.. and can't be seen in your photo. ... but I was there! Here's my shot taken within seconds of your shot.

Cheers,
Louis |

Actually, looking at the photo you posted again... Perhaps I am visible. I am not 100% certain because it doesn't look like my head (even though you can only see the back of it here), the shirt does look like a shirt I had at that time... a Hawaiian style shirt with similar coloring and styling... So this could be me in your photo... possibly...
So, why didn't you say "Hi" at the time?

Cheers,
Louis |

Louis, what a small, small world. I have to say that I'm extremely happy that you put up that picture as the only pictures I have are of the blurry kind that I posted up (there's a blurry picture of have of Janet Field and Carole Ann Ford with them back to back. It was a really cool pose. I wish I had a better quality of that pick).
The event we were at was entitled "Whoevent
Here's a link to more pictures I have up and you'll see my badge from the event and the front cover of the Program.
Unfortunately, back in 1985 I was rather shy and I wouldn't have said hello if I had bumped into you. It's funny because I won a local radio contest--that's how I got the tickets. I took my mom with me to the event. It's a bit of a blur now, but I recall that I was most impressed with the cabaret at night as it was so cool seeing the actors perform (sing, etc.).
Thank you again for sharing your picture! |
