By a weird coincidence, a friend is applying for a job, and the company asked me for a reference for him.
Turns out the job is in Scotland. So my friend called me today, to answer some questions.
Then I say "Have you been catching the new Who?" He said: "Yeah, and isn't it GREAT?"
Then he said the magic words: "I was in a toy shop yesterday, and they have these 12-14" talking Daleks! Stacked from floor to ceiling!"
After I regained consciousness, I said "Can you get back to that shop?"
"Yeah, no problem. I can go tomorrow."
"Can you pick me up one?"
"Sure. No problem."
I also asked him to look to see if the TARDIS coin bank was there, and to get me one of those too.
Then he said if he can borrow a spare suitcase, he'd buy TWO of the Daleks for me.
I may have two Daleks on Wednesday, without paying 25 POUNDS for shipping each.
WOOT! I'll let you all know if it pans out.
Sean.
(I posted this before, but it didn't take. I also posted a message this morning on the main front page thread of the Sci Fi Channel article and it also didn't show up... wonder what's up?) |

That is very cool. My R/C Dalek arrived today I ordered mine from 10th Planet back at the end of September and they emailed me a couple of days ago to ask if I still needed the Dalek. It is so very cool, now I just have to get the batteries for it.
Good luck with your Daleks from Scotland, nice to know some shops do actually have them around.
Now I just have to get a Sonic Screwdriver and I will be very happy |

Just got word from my friend, and he was only able to get one of the Daleks for me.
He didn't have room to pack two. As it was, he had to collapse the box down to flat, and pack the Dalek in the case.
Still, one's better than zero.
I may have it by WEdnesday!!!
The Sonic Screwdriver is most cool. You have to get one of those.
I also ordered a Dalek from 10th Planet, back in early October, I think... I haven't heard yet that they have enough in stock to ship mine, but I await that day...
Then I'll get my second one, I guess.
Sean.

Yes, one is definitely better than none. I ordered my Dalek from 10th Planet late September, so it is possible you may see yours soon, too. It is likely they will email you first to ask if you still need it.
I will order my Sonic Screwdriver soon. There are a few other things I need to order too. I also want to check out the new action figures, did not look at them yet. |

K,
WhoNA has the sonic screwdrivers on their page last I checked. They must have gotten a batch recently.

| You will want to make sure that the one they send you has a different frequency than the one you got, so that you can use them both at the same time, unless you want to control them with the same remote.

Hey, my editor has approved the R/C Dalek as my next review!
WoOT!
It should be posted two weeks from now (on Thursday, February 9) on www.scifi.com/ and then the following Tuesday on www.scifi.com/sfw/

| Cool! You should probably start working on getting the 2.5" R/C K-9 if you want to get one to review before the rush...
Sorry to have been greedily holding on to my gold Dalek for months... never was very good at sharing my toys, though I did like to brag about them. Funny how little things change over the years.
Enjoy your Dalek!!!
