Outpost Gallifrey is reporting that Whovians down under will get to see The Christmas Invasion and the second series of Doctor Who on ABC. Great news for our friends in Australia!

Although we have no confirmation, we are hoping that The Christmas Invasion (TCI) will be included in the 2006 Series DVD Box Set... but I would suspect that box set is about a year off from hitting the shelves. If the Sci-Fi Channel picks up 2006 and show in the fall of this year, perhaps it may make it to the shelves before Xmas 2006.
Perhaps TCI might even be shown on the Sci-Fi Channel as part of the 2006 series... Though they may edit it down or make it a 90 minute special (allowing for commercials).
Finally, perhaps we can arrange some sort of Gallifreyan Embassy meeting where you might see it.

I forget where it was reported, but the plain vanilla region 2 DVDs will have the Christmas episode and episode 1 on the first DVD and 3 episodes on each of 4 other DVDs released during 2006.

Yay!
I just watched a promo for the new Series of Doctor Who on the ABC. It was shown just after 'The Chaser's War on Everything'.
It started with a black screen with green writing saying:
This is not a car advertisement >
But I didn't get the chance to record that.
It reminds me very much of the promos that the BBC was showing in the lead up to The Christmas Invasion, the one where the TARDIS is shown crashing into the rubbish bins, but this one's a bit longer.

I have heard the The Christmas Invasion will air on Saturday July 8 at 7:30pm.
I have sent an email request to the ABC to ask when S2 will air to confirm the date. I will report back to the forum if the ABC reports anything different.
I have also heard that the first series 2 DVD will be on sale in Australia from July 20. This will have The Christmas Invasion, plus the first 2 regular episodes of series 2. here
