Again looking for CIA - I'm there but nobody else is Frown

    Cheers, daveac

Well I've just left CIA podcast after 1 hour on my own - with two short visitors (streamers)-

To keep myself amused by cuting and pasting the part Dr Who story I've written - as I believe the 'chat text' is saved (but maybe not without the recording running)

So where was everyone - was I in the wrong building??

    Cheers, daveac

I stopped by after you had alreadly left and read your story. No sign of West thuogh. I don't know if the text is saved if the show never started or not. Good story so far, but is this a 9th or 10th Doctor story? Couldn't tell for sure from the text. I hope West is ok as well.

    Cheers,
    Mike M.

Thanks Merlin - I thought if people came in later they would not 'see' the earlier text - so that's good to know.

Your right about 'which' doctor not being clear - in fact re-reading it he seems more like the Seventh Doctor - don't know how that works with Rose.

I think I will needto 'tweek' him into the Tenth doctor.

The story started on this Forum - some did the first few lines and I took up the baton.

In view of your effort to read it in 'ticker-tape' form here's the story so far:-

    Planet of Dreams

    Chapter 1:

'My name is Peter and I never grow old' said the boy.

'Really?' said Rose, 'I have a friend like that, a man who is a little boy at heart and he's over 900 years old. You'd get on famously.'

'Is he on the island Rose?'

'Yes, he's got a sort of blue beach hut down on the shore. Come on Peter we'll go and visit him. Race you!'

High up on the cliff a lone figure dressed in a long hooded cape looked as the two figures clambered down to the beach their laughing and chatter drifting up on the warm breaze.

Looking in the direction they ran the figure saw something familiar on the beach.

'Well Doctor, it looks like our paths have crossed again. But this time you will not upset my plans.'

The figure abruptly turned and went into the cave just as the two figures reached the Tardis.

    'What's that blue haze Rose'

'I don't know Peter, but somethings wrong.'

'Doctor! Doctor! Can you hear me, I'ts Rose can you hear me - there's something surrounding the Tardis - I can't get in. Doctor!'

As Rose shouted histerically Peter edged towards the blue box. He put forward his left hand into the blue haze.

'Rose. Rose!' shouted Peter before he collapsed to the ground.

Rose dropped to her knees to help Peter. He was staring at his hand which seemed to have disolved into the haze.

Just then the Tardis door openned to reveal the Doctor with a small sensor in his hand.

'Rose try to pull your young friend away, slowly now, whilst I neutralise these nanobots.'

Rose did as the Doctor asked and watched in disbelief as the boys hand slowly re-formed.

'Peter are you are alright?' cried Rose.

'Peter. Peter would you like to go along the beach and collect some drift wood so we can light a fire? Yes, that's a good lad - off you go.'

    'But Doctor...' started Rose.

'Rose, I want you to listen. That mist of nanobots was attacking the Tardis... and THAT boy is not real. He's made from the same stuff. So whatever - whoever - is attacking the Tardis must have made him ... and therefore controls him.'

Deep in the hillside the hooded figure leaned over the hexagonal console and touched the sensor marked 'sim-boy' and spoke softly, 'Return!'

After observing the boys immediate compliance the figure switched his attention to the viewer displaying what appeared to be the main office in some official residence where an old man sat at a large desk.

Another sensor touched and another command snapped out:- 'Send a troop out to the west beach. They are to arrest a man and a girl they will find there - they may use some force if neccessary but no real harm must come to them. Comply now!'

As the Doctor started to explain about the boy he noticed the boy suddenly drop the wood he was collecting an strike out across the sandy beach.

Moments later the whine of a high-pitched engine drowned out Rose's questions.

In a swift action the Doctor both grasped Rose's hand and closed the Tardis door.

'Rose, we have company. We must make for the trees at the edge of the beach'

Just as they cleared the beach Rose saw a large helicoper-type craft hover above the Tardis and a dozen soldiers dropped out of it to the ground.

Within seconds the Tardis was harnessed and the troops fanned out seaching the area.

With one last look over her shoulder as the Doctor dragged her deeper into the wooded hillside, Rose saw the Tardis being lifted high in the air and carried off into the distance.

'We would have been safe in the Tardis Doctor - why didn't we just hide in there?'

'Hide - when there's a mystery to solve! No Rose whilst those troops waste their time on the Tardis we can investigate....it may be just a short hop for them but it will take us a couple of hours to reach that settlement.

As they made their way slowly across the wooded hillside the Doctor filled Rose in on this Holiday Planet.

'It was sort of Terraformed in the 41st Century to provide thousands of similar islands each with a high central mountain, for snow sports obviously, along with great sweeping coasts and one built-up resort.'

'Only the stupendencely rich can holiday here, of course, as just getting to this solar system costs bucket loads of money. That's why instead of staff they use simulated people, like that young friend of your's to both serve and add ambience to the place.'

    Chapter 2:

The old bearded man in formal robes bowed slightly to the young boy dining at the grand table.

'Young Master, we have arrived at the planet and are awaiting permission to take the landing craft down.'

'Permission Cleric? I do I need permission? You said when I reached 12 I could command all in this sector.'

'With all due respect, young master, you will not be that age for two more Earth weeks. Until then I must attend to these matters and I unfortunately do need the the Superintendant's permisssion.'

'Well get on with it, I want to find a beach and run into the sea. Dismissed!'

The figure spoke almost before it's image stabilised, 'Report!'

The Governor began evasively, 'Well, a large box-like object has been flown back to the grounds but all our attepts to open it have failed. As to the two you described there was no sign.'

'Cease your pitiful attempts on the Tardis and send out more troops to the beach.Use the best technology your planet can provide.' The figure abruptly disolved.

As the Governer carried out these instructions his Aid appeared, 'Sir, the Cleric of Ajax seeks permission to land and requires a security escourt to their Summer residence.'

'See to it, I have far more important things to attend to.' snapped the Governor venting is anger on the hapless Aid.

'But, if I may remind your Lordship, the Cleric's visit this year is special as his young nephew, the Royal Prince Aden comes of age during his stay.'

'Oh! Quickly, contact the Cleric with permission and pass on my request for an audience with the Prince. And send two troops in full regalia as their escort.'

'Slow down Doctor! I haven't got two hearts you know!'

'Maybe Rose but neither are you middle aged like me. Anyway - where was I?'

'You've never been here before, but you've been - will be here - in about 1700 years when they celebrate their 2000 th's year of operation. So at least we know that whatever's going on here at least the planets not going to get blown up!'

Just a moment later and the two figures reached the top of the last rise and could see the Pleasure Village spread out below.

'Right Rose, the first thing we must do is try to blend in - smile you're on holiday.'

'Cleric, thank you for giving me this audience with the Prince. Will he be joining us shortly?' enquired the Governor.

'He's just changing into his Court clothes, one of the things I have instilled in him as his Mentor. But it also gives us the chance to discuss his security in confidence.'

The Governor complemented the Cleric on his devotion to his nephew before moving on, 'As to security Cleric, may I say that all our honoured guests recieve the highest protection available in this whole Sector' before qiuckly adding, 'But of course since this is such an important time for the young Prince we will double all our usual watches.'

'Indeed Governor, I expect nothing less. But enough of this talk, join us for repass and let us talk of the celebrations that need ....a little fine-tuning. Ah! here comes the Prince.'

Then with a clap of his hands the table was prepared within moments.

The hooded figure observed the scene for a few more moments before breaking the connection and turning to Peter.

'Your instruction are as follows. Without alerting your controller you must make friends with that young man. He is of high station so you must act accordingly and although he may suspect you are one of the planets artificial lifeforms the enhancements I have given you may allow him to accept you as a holiday friend.'

    'I understand' replied Peter.

'It is important that you gain an invite to his palace and also to his day of Adulthood. I will give you further instuction nearer the time.'

'And Rose,' asked Peter 'do I stay friends with her?'

'No. Stay away from her now. After the the episode at the Tardis the Doctor will know what you are. It's a pity as you meeting her could have helped greatly with her being the Doctors companion.'

    Chapter 3:

The young Prince raced down the beach like any child on their first day of holiday...raced and dived into the warm blue waters.

At a discrete distance the four guards watched, but for once they could relax a little. On this Terra formed world the sea was safe from preditors and the currents gentle. The young Prince was a compedent swimmer and the guards protected the beach from the low sand dunes. The only further security measure was a small tracker device sown into the Prince's costume.

Even the sight of another young boy in the sea nearby didn't concern the guards, for on this 'rich-man's' playground of a world it could only be the son of some other high-born family.

'Hi' said Peter,' race you to that raft?
    'I'm bored....Doctor I said I'm bored.'

'Rose, look around you. The place is beautiful...the people are beautiful....that enormous meal you just ate was beautiful.... how can you be bored?'

'Well,' started Rose - eager to explain that the whole place lacked any excitment or atmosphere why even the people milling around the town square in front of the cafe seats where they sat looked bored, 'well just look this place is just lifeless.'

'Exactly,' replied the Doctor in his I told you so voice,'at this time of day just after two all the visitors are still eating or taking a nap...these 'people' are simulated - remember - just like Peter.'

'Then why are we siting here?' asked Rose, 'to rest your 900 year bones I suppose?'

'That's not funny I'm barely in my prime. In fact,' the Doctor continued, 'I think we can go now and seek an audience with the local big-wig. Whilst you had your head down in your food I noticed we were being watched - so now it's time to put my psychic paper to work and investigate!'

    'Now you're talking!'
