Clarke's Mickey May Return To Who?
Noel Clarke, who played Mickey Smith on the first two seasons of the BBC's Doctor Who, hinted to SCI FI Wire that he may be returning to the show in the upcoming fourth season, even though his character was left stranded in an alternate dimension.

Besides acting in Doctor Who, Clarke also wrote an episode of the first season of Torchwood, a spinoff series starring John Barrowman. When asked whether he would be writing any more scripts, he was coy about his availability. "I'm not doing the second [season] of Torchwood," he said. "Because I'm doing things that I can't talk about."

Clarke's character was the on-and-off boyfriend of the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper. But when Piper left the series at the end of the second season, her character was sent to a parallel universe, along with Mickey and her parents, Jackie and Pete (played by Camille Coduri and Shaun Dingwall).

"I think over the two seasons, people really grew to like Jackie and Mickey and Pete," Clarke said. "And consequently, as Rose departed, they departed with her. I think it's great [that they're missed]."

As for how the writers would explain Mickey's possible return, Clarke offered a vague explanation. "It's a parallel universe, baby," he said. "The only thing I could say is that it's sci-fi, right? And in sci-fi, there's no real rules, is there?"

The first season of Torchwood premieres on BBC America on Sept. 9 and will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Meanwhile, the third season of Doctor Who is currently airing on the SCI FI Channel Fridays at 9 p.m. ET/PT. —Cindy White

Maybe they dusted off the script for that proposed spinoff Rose Tyler: Earth Defence and are revamping it for Mickey.

that I might watch. especially if he continued with his bumbling, stumbling ways just a bit as he worked to get it right. Maybe, though, in such a show we would really end up with Scooby-Who, as he and is meddling kids wandered the alt.Earth in their black van.

There is an easy way that Mickey could return (and Jackie, for that matter). There were plenty of times that Mickey and Jackie were left alone whilst Rose travelled with The Doctor. All they have to do is set a story in 2006!

Mickey's character development would have to take a backwards step though!!!

Noel Clarke is definitely not getting too far away from the Who-niverse.

I was just poking around the Big Finish website, and apparently he will be starring in the next chapter of the Dalek Empire series, The Fearless. He won't be playing Mickey, he'll be playing a character named Salus Kade.

The Daleks are conquering our galaxy. Nothing can stop them. But Commander Agnes Landen has an idea.

On the outer planet Talis Minor, Salus Kade is struggling to keep his colony alive. The last thing he needs is a war to fight.

Sounds like Noel is carving himself out a nice career working within the world of Doctor Who. Can't say that I blame him.

Personally, I don't know how good of an idea it'll be to have him come back as Mickey. Although there are definitely ways of bringing him back for an episode or two, the ideas already discussed seem to bring about more problems than solutions.

if you have a load of lovely cyberman costumes just lying around... and you want to find a way of re using them. wouldn't you reopen a breach in a void to save you from a load of budgetary expenses...
