Well they showed her eating whole pickled gurkins - so we could take it that she was in full 'pregnancy mode' - and maybe not thinking straight.
Cheers, daveac

Yeah I noticed that... I just said to myself, "Mmmm...." I have been eating the same since I can remember... I am still expecting that baby. It hasn't arrived yet. Sigh.
Cheers,

No offense, Louis, but ... ever planned a wedding?
|
|
Nope, never had .... (thankfully).

It's months of hard work, negotiating with planners, relatives, photographers, it's a major confluence of disparate elements, and just changing it on the fly is not something that will ever happen.
Not to mention, I think it was made pretty clear that the sudden hormonal influx Gwen was experiencing, what with becoming very recently and very suddenly pregnant, was seriously affecting her judgement.

Yep, I suppose you have a point.
Gwen has always been portrayed as the voice of reason for the most part since she was introduced to Torchwood. So it is just hard to swallow her in this state of being so unreasonable.
But unlike Jack, I have never been pregnant regardless of my diet of eating pickled gherkins whole.
Cheers,

I forgot Jack had been pregnant... you'd think he should have been more understanding about what Gwen was dealing with! |

I liked this episode. Nothing outstanding about it, but it was relatively straightforward. My one gripe (not with the episode, but a series-long theme), is the relationship between Gwen and Jack. I think it's apparent that Gwen has some sort of feelings for Jack and vice-versa. It almost seemed as though Gwen wanted to rush the wedding here, not because everything was all planned and paid for, but rather that by getting married it would somehow magically make her feelings for Jack disappear, now that she's committed herself to Rhys, and she wouldn't be torn between the two anymore.
I guess my beef is the way that Rhys gets crapped on by Gwen, much the same way Mickey got crapped on by Rose and how she felt for The Doctor. |

Hey all,
Just watched this episode today on Sky+ (tevo), as i was in Holland on Wed watching the Spurs, and have been drowning my sorrows since.
Yes, I agree with the whole hormone issue brought up by mad4plaid. And I also agree with sarahbot's theory about immediately diffusing the egg INSIDE a pregnant woman's stomach. It's going to leave some...sagging? shall we say?
And wasn't Gwen wearing a preggo woman's wedding dress?
But my main gripe is the SERIOUS plot hole concerning the wedding guests. Jack/Ianto went so far as to block communication from the wedding to the emergency services (even tho everyone and their DOG knows who/what Torchwood are) that as soon as Gwen tells her folks about it, and a huge alien shootout happens in front of the guests, you just knew a retcon was coming at the reception! And not only that, what exactly is a level 6 retcon? Because the wedding went through AFTER the whole alien/shooty scenario! So what exactly will the guests remember? Waking up at a wedding reception WITHOUT the bride and groom, and which will be their latest memory?
That whole theory just didnt sit well with me.
Apart from that, a good scripted, well delivered episode. Better's yet to come i hope! |
