P.S. It is of course possible that this message is a trap. If it is I can deal with it. P.P.S. I'm leaving this note in case I can't!

Click on archive and what was the old site appears.
I must say that the old site was so good that my initial reaction to the new one is that it looks slick but has almost zero content. Except for the "April Fools" clip which is obviously genuine. So it is the Doctor versus Morph, I wonder if Tony Hart will be in the episode?

Yay new website! But, from an aesthetic point of view, I have to say, my reaction is "Ewww" - not crazy about that serif font with the ("HOME NEWS EPISODES etc...") Just, doesn't read that great - all in all the site just, feels a bit, scummy.
<-- eyes hurting from red overload! I mean, I love red, but the ruddy orange vs. space blue color pallet is getting a bit old. |

Yep, I agree. Looks to me like it is designed with Kids in mind. content looks like it will skew towards video, but the library is pretty empty at the moment. Probably means that those of us outside the UK will have their access to most content crushed.
I answered a survey on the old site about 4 weeks ago, was anyone else invited to partake? As I exited, I believe. |

| Has anyone else outside Britain noticed an inability to play the videos on the site? For the first two weeks, I had no problems, but now I can't even get simple trailers to play. It goes automatically to "Play This Again" in both Safari and Firefox. Weird. |

Dammit. This looks like it is content restriction after all. I investigated a bit and found this on doctorwhoforum.com:

Well they [the BBC] responded in quite a nice, FAST way:
In theory they shouldn't have been working from the start - not sure how
you managed to see them up until this week. New rules mean we can't
offer these videos overseas until BBC Worldwide get involved and put ads
on the pages where they feature. We are currently working with them to
achieve this, but it's a very slow process. It's a BBC policy that the
Doctor Who team sadly have no control over. We'd very much like to offer
our videos to everyone.
So there you go, it is some dumb BBC rule as we expected. At least we know now. In the end it a very small thing so I'm not too upset, it's just a shame. |

with the iPlayer out, I say its time to have non-UK license fees to allow others to have access to content. I'd be willing to pay in order to watch the shows I want from BBC (instead of taking a red eye).
Then again, I was quite disappointed with the iPlayer when in the UK last week - slower than snot in January: ten seconds of content then 20 seconds of re-buffering from both strong wireless connections and wired connections. No wonder the service providers and BBC seem to be having issues about it. |
