I know less about the overall show of this than individual episodes. I know that most of the time when I watched it, I was not dissapointed. At first, in season one, it was mostly procedural with Dan Acroyd narrating the opening and closing and it had two half hour stories back to back, almost anthology like, or documentary like. While this was an interesting format, ala ONE STEP BEYOND (esp the one about the mushrooms)it really didn't grab attention and did nothing for the main characters who seemed distant and undeveloped most of the time. This changed at the very end of the season and the leader of the team...being, well, I don't want to give it away but anyway...

...it then...and oh, season one had a great story about a man who died or was murdered and no one knew about the murder...until it was found out when hundreds of different varieties of snakes invaded the town.

Some really neat storylines and eps made this more than an X FILES rip off. The second season and later seasons added some interesting if offbeat charcters/ leaders: Micheal Moriatory (was he a villain or a good guy?) and that dude from MAX HEADROOM.

Leaders tended to not last long or to be killed off or whisked to some other dimension.

Another ep I recall seemed to be about...a plane that landed upsidedown!

    Or something...

Truth is as much as I like and appreciate the storytellling of most TWILIGHT ZONE and OUTER LIMITS (the original NOT that often awful 1990s version), I don't care much for anthology's over shows with continuing characters. In the long run, PSI FACTOR made me like the characters and certainly made me think with some compelling if not strange storylines.

This show should not be dismissed.
