Doctor Who Online has reported it weeks ago and we in turned reported on it in our podcast. Since then, we received various confirmations from other sources. So, I am not sure why the BBC has not announced it yet themselves... but it is pretty clear that it is April 15th at this point. But anything can change.

It's standard practice. The April 15th date has been generally known for the last couple of months but the BBC generally does not announce air dates for anything (other than live coverage of politics, sports etc) until the listings are being drawn up. It isn't just for Doctor Who it's just that Doctor Who draws more attention than anything else. The CBC works in very much the same way.

| Well, the Graske is finally gone from the bbc.co.uk/doctorwho page... so maybe they are finally going to start giving us teasers. I had read on gallifreyone.com that there was a media moritorium on until last night, so things should really start developing fast and furious now. |

It's not that big a difference. Last year the premiere was *officially* confirmed on March 7th, 19 days before the March 26th, 2005 broadcast. This year the official confirmation came on March 28th, 18 days before the planned April 15th, 2006 broadcast. The difference is only one day.
FWIW the CBC officially confirmed their preimiere date of April 5th, 2005 on March 2nd, 2005.
