Your promo is in the latest Doctor Who: Podshock episode (114).

Now for your question. No, I don't think they are same. I like Timelash far better.

    Cheers,
    Louis

Definitely. Timelash is Citizen Kane compared to L+M.

Love & Monsters was an interesting work incorporating the creation of a Blue Peter contest winner with a story that pokes fun at die hard fans. It was in many ways an experiment, key of which was that it was the first attempt at a Doctor-lite story.

Now, Timelash was a script that should have gone through more polishing before it was even accepted for production. Though there are some interesting ideas, the story just doesn't hold together at all. Add to that poor production values, even for its era, you end up with a tangled mess.

Daleks don't accept apologies! YOU WILL BE EXTERMINATED!

Absolutely not. Love and Monsters is a very inventive script, that tried to do something different, and contained a very self-indulgent line at the end which has caused the story to come in for far too much unwarranted criticism. I'm not the biggest fan of "that line" either, but that doesn't change the fact that for most of the previous 40 minutes, this is a lovely story - showing the effect the Doctor's actions can sometimes have, and how a group of misfits can come together to create something wonderful (LINDA) and how when someone tries to organise them, and take control of it then it can become very twisted (not reminiscent of any UK-based major 80s fan groups then right????)

Timelash, on the other hand is a hugely padded script, with some nice ideas, but terrible production values, and some horrible direction and pretty poor acting from several participants (and Paul Darrow is not one of them!). It truly deserves its horrible reputation.

It's amazing how some people still manage to completely miss the point entirely when it comes to the reaction to "Love & Monsters" and this question proves it. Even though you might have hated it your going to have to get over the fact that that a lot of people did not. "Love & Monsters" is a story that is loved by as many people as hate it. In the DWM Series Two poll it got as many first place votes as last place ones. It's not an unpopular story it's a divisive one.

If anything "Fear Her" was another Timelash. A not very good story that most people can actually agree on.

I couldn't have put it better myself. I agree on both points: I loved Love and Monsters. I hated Fear Her. I think a lot of us have given our views on this on the Love and Monsters review thread which is pages long - compared to... not very many pages, I think, for Fear Her.
