A great start to this new series, I thought. Always been a fan of post-apocalypse dramas: Day of the Triffids; I am Legend; The Stand.
Good to see: "based on the novel by Terry Nation". Although I never realised it was a novel - must check that out.

I thought it was a bit slow - but they did have a lot to setup.

    Cheers, daveac

I seem to remember the original was like watching paint dry too.

lots of chat about soil acidity and sustainable crops.

Didn't Blake's 7 also start out slow? (another Nation project)

Disagree, I thought it was paced rather well - you can't set up a story about a global virus and explain it under an hour.

Overall, I thought it was great. I thought Max Beesley was a lot of fun as the creepy Tom Price. Looking forward to the next episode!

I don't "remember" it, but I did try and watch it when Amazon first starting doing DVD rentals. I gave up about halfway thru disc 2 of series 1.

Well I've just watched episode 2 of Survivors (a 1 hour episode) and I must say it was MUCH better than the long setup episode.

In fact - although that first episode was drawnout to make you see these people's 'normal' lives and to care about them - I don't think it did the series any favours.

It may well have turned many people off.

So to anyone checking out this thread - I'd say give it a second chance - this was much more involving episode.

    Cheers, daveac

    Glad you liked it Dave!

Although this wasn't as intresting and in depth as the first episode, I think Patterson Joseph is quailty. Dare I say doctor-ish quailty?

And is it just me, or does the 6 episode-series seem not enough? Unless they've got another planned already...

I too am a fan of post-apocalyptic worlds, The Omega Man anyone ? I thought the first episode really set the series up well & I really enjoyed episode two. Very tense. Disappointed the Freema Agyman's role was so brief.

But in this series - she got ill - said she had a lump - but one of the other characters had a lump - and appeared to die - to later revive.

So although her picture was torn up and cast into the canal by the young lady doctor - I don't remember it showing clearly that she had died.

Perhap if she is doing other TV stuff - they have just left her fate 'open' for a later (even series 2) re-appearance?
