    The Red Hand Gang!
OMG! The UK came out with a set of all 12 episodes of the 1977 Sat Morning Kid Show THE RED HAND GANG. Now it might seem silly to people nowadays but this show was so...innocent. I mean the time wasn't really that innocent, no time really is but this show was just...it gave a feeling of innocent adventure/mystery that no other series has captured. It was a kind of mix of Little Rascals and the Hardy Boys. A group of five kids aged 8 through 11 solve crimes and mysteries. The time was simplier and then a phone call couldn't be made on a cell phone or the adventures would be over in a flash. The kids had a club house and BOOMER the dog had his own show. The locations were abandoned zoos, parks, forests, mountains, the city, a dock, an old abandoned mansion, haunted of course. The kids rode their bikes and skateboards...

the crooks didn't really have guns that we saw and were more into getting money and jewels and kidnapping...they weren't the hard crime villains we see now on almost every show...they certainly weren't murderers but one felt they could turn that way any minute.

The sneaking around solving crimes and messing up the bad guy plans was part of the show's appeal and it had an appealing cast lead by the boy who later played the son in Little House on the Prarie.

Watching the show took me back to a time that seemed more innocent and fun, when kids played outside in relative safety making up games and playing their favorite shows on a Sat Afternoon, pretending. It was just such a show. the music was also very very well done and catchy.
