Sad news - Wendy Richards dies aged 65
EDIT Wendy Richard
I know many of the fans of UK SF also watched a lot of UK comedy and might remember her from 'Are you being served?' playing Miss Brahms

That's a shame!
I enjoyed watching her as Miss Brahms in "Are You Being Served" - in fact I still do because our local PBS station still runs the show.
However I also enjoyed her work in "EastEnders" - she played Pauline Fowler on that show. She has one of the original first characters on the show.
Stories report that she lost her third battle with breast cancer on February 26th.
We'll miss her. |

She will always be the young Miss Brahms to me. I haven't seen too much of her elsewhere. It is sad to loose her way too early.

Molly Sugden, who starred alongside Wendy in Are You Being Served?, said: "How can I express my grief on hearing of the loss of Wendy. She has been part of my life for so long, almost like one of the family. Many happy memories.
"Although she had no children of her own, she instinctively knew about little boys and my two idolised her. She was the daughter I never had and I shall never stop missing her.
"She lives on in the hearts of so many people who were entertained by her talent and warmed by her charm. It is a sad day and may God bless her."
Tonight's episode of EastEnders will be dedicated to Wendy Richard. It will be followed at 8.00pm by a tribute programme titled, Wendy Richard: A Tribute.

Quite sad that her only contribution to Doctor Who was that her Eastenders character Pauline Fowler appeared briefly in Dimensions in Time. She coulda been a contender.

Sad news though sorry to be Mr Pedantic but it's Wendy Richard NOT Richards. In fact her biography was called "Its Richard not Richards" |

We should blame the Mary Tyler Moore Show perhaps... her character name in the series was Mary Richards if I recall correctly. Plural. Whereas Wendy was just singular.

You're gonna make it after all.
Cheers,
