Well ep1 has to be one of the cleverest, funniest DW's ever from the set up, the chess game, the Pluto environment, the jokes, the location shooting, the sets...everything is just right.

Tom is just about the funniest thing ever, even Leela gets jokey funny lines and it is not over the top or boring at all. There are many, many iconic things in the story overall that I'm surprised it's not more popular: K9 fits at home on flat level surfaces, there's a sacrifice, a gasing, a near brainwashing, gun play in corridors, a rebellion and rebel group (with one member played by Vila from BLAKE'S 7), creepy underlings, and a more creepy alien boss.

Leela also gets a very dramatic line when she tells Cordo he's the bravest man in the group in ep2, which is by and far a capture, rescue, capture, threat ep and I didn't even notice. The hallways are a bit cheesy but so what, this is DW.

A GREAT story and a great two episodes. Tom's interaction with almost everyone, no, wrong, with everyone is just so watchable. He's just amazing in this story and so is Louise Jamieson. K9 is also in top form as well. The guest stars are just about all appealing and the dialog is so witty and fun.

"Perhaps everyone runs from the tax man."

"What happens if I refuse to go?"
    "You die."
"It was just a passing thought."

    "It's like a sacrifice?"
"Yes but paying taxes is more painful."

And so much more. ANd then there's the setting, a dark planet underneath, a lit planet in the buildings, artificial suns around the cities, huge skyscraper like buildings...and yes, hallways and a correction center.

And maybe I"m alone, but I can't get enough of Jelly Baby scenes.
