| Has anyone else seen David Tennant in the new HP film? I've seen the film twice so far (more viewings planned) and I think he really did justice to the Barty Jr. character. However, I'm not sure if I like the "tounge acting" he does... |

I've not yet seen it - but I plan to! 
My wife is a huge Harry Potter fan, and I enjoy it too. He'll have to remember to pull out his wand rather than his sonic screwdriver.
Harry could have done with a Sonic Screwdriver - unlocking the Chamber of Secrets would have been a doddle then!

Saw this for the first time its an excellant film, much better than number 3. DT is not in the film for very long is he.  |

| I thought the "tongue acting" was because of all the snake connections with the death-eaters. I rather enjoyed the little bit of him I got to see in that movie. |

The Harry Potter film adaptations are usually quite good, but as the books get bigger, the films can't expand to match because there is this stupid misconception that people can't take a film that's longer than two hours, and going past it really stretches the audience's patience.
Nonsense, I say, if it's good, people will stay.
I was a bit disappointed with the whole Barty Crouch adaptation. Unlike the previous film which I think was the best adaptation yet, this one completely redid the way Barty Crouch got out of Azkaban, and his father's knowledge or lack thereof, of the whole thing.
No spoilers, but if you've read the book and seen the film, you know what I mean.

I agree with that. I was also disappointed with it. But what really got me (and I don't think this is spoilerish), is that JKR takes pains in the book to describe exactly how Barty Jr looks, and they seem to have gone with the polar opposite in the movie (pale vs dark). They could have had David still play Barty, but lost the black hair and sort of Gestapo look he seemed to be going with. |

Yeah, they changed the entire relationship and how Barty got out of Azkaban, and considering the self-sacrifice by Barty's mother in the case, and the heart-break the whole thing caused to Barty Sr. it would have been a more emotionally charged episode if they had kept that intact, rather than simplifying it as much as they did.
That's why as good as 4 was, 3 was a better adaptation.
Things I loved about 4: Hermione. Her every move. Her appearance at the ball was better-acted than almost anyone her age could have done. From the absolute giggly glee when she was first introduced, (including the little snigger she gives as her face goes off-camera) to the joy she shows when she just spins around, arms in the air as if she can't believe she's there, to the crying scene as she bawls-out Ron for being such a thickie. It was absolute perfection.
I felt better watching those scenes than I did when Hermione first punches Malfoy in the face in 3.

absolutely agree with you.
Noticed that the actor who plays Barty Couch Sr is going to be in the new series of Doctor Who (don't remember when or where or as what though). I do look forward to seeing him as a less pathetic character. |
