| I logged into iTunes last night and it tried to pull down episode 1 of Podshock. I declined the download and this morning Episode 2 was ready for me. Anyone else seeing this or is it just with me? |

I would suggest a number of things, first is the clock on you computer showing the correct date? Then, check your podcast preferences in iTunes. Change to download the most recent one (you may not get all the releases if you have an infrequent check frequency, but you can always download manually).
I am not having this problem on my Macs, but I already have all the episodes downloaded. Which version of iTunes is exhibiting this behavior?
What, you guys don't like the first few episodes??? Reruns are your friend...

I'll check my preferences on iTunes when I get home. This is the latest version I got on my Mac when I did my software update but I've downloaded all the previous eps before (been listening since the beginning). I know it's not the time or date issue on my Mac, but the iTunes prefs are something I can't vouch for until I get home and check them.
Thanks for the advice Taras!! |

Hmm... No, we didn't do anything with our feeds recently. It's not happening here... Which feed? The main one (Enhanced Podcast) or the MP3 version feed?
Neither has been changed or have been touched since last week... so I am not sure why iTunes behavior may have changed for you.
I just checked now using our main feed and it seems to working as normal. I will check the MP3 version next.
Cheers,

I just checked the MP3 feed now, it is working normally as well.
I know how annoying this can be for some people to get old podcasts downloaded automatically. It has happened before to me a few times with other podcasts. I had always assumed they had recreated their feed with new ID numbers for each podcast/RSS entry, and the podcast client just assumed they were new episodes. But we did no such thing. As I said, we haven't even touched either podcast feed since last week.
Cheers,

It shouldn't. iTunes or any other podcast client should only look at the feed to see what has been updated since last time...
The feed is just an XML file. It doesn't matter what server it is hosted on... Besides they have been working fine since the server change for almost 3 weeks now. Why would it suddenly change over the last day? Or stranger still, why it is only effecting some people and not others using the same software?
I tested it out here, and everything is working normally as it should... so I am puzzled why some are having this issue and others are not.
I want to say it is probably iTunes, but if everyone is using the same version, and using the same platform, using the same feed.. and their computer date/time is correct... then I am left scratching my head here now.
Cheers,

FWIW, I only download the MP3 version and got a whole boatload of early eps from before I had subscribed. I started about episode 20-something and got the first set automagically. I opened my aggregator and made the mistake of going away from it. Not that I don't want to listen to older episodes, it's the terabytes of space....
I use Juice to download and not the iTunes...

The answer to your question is 47. It used to be 42, but it's been updated for inflation.

Well, both feeds have just been updated with the latest podcast (Doctor Who: Podshock - 48)... I only hope that the newly refreshed feed may have solved this issue for those that have been affected by it. I've tested it with two different computers at two different locations prior to updating the feed, and they were working fine for me. So I am still puzzled on the cause of the problem. Now that MaryJane47 reported that she is not using iTunes, we can rule that out as the cause.
Cheers,
Louis
