    The Doctor's Tattoo Views: 1141
     Sunday, September 24 2006 @ 01:02 PM EDT
I just watched my DVD of Spearhead from Space, one of my favorites, and I noticed something I never noticed before (or noticed and promptly forgot). During the scene when Jon Pertwee is hiding out in the shower (a scene that cracks me up every time I see it) I notice he has a tattoo on his right forearm. For about a half-second I thought it was a question mark, but then I realized just how asinine that would be. Apparently it's a coiled snake of some kind. You can see a pic of it here. I wonder what the story behind that is. Anyone know of any good biographies of Jon Pertwee?

I'm going "Full Circle" and putting my avatar back to what it was when I first joined. :)

Jon Pertwee was in the Royal Navy during the war and that's when he got the tattoo.

Funnily enough, that tattoo is precisely what cracks me up about that scene. Why the hell they just didn't shoot from the reverse direction, or at least put a li'l make-up on it, I'll never know. Instead, it makes it look like the Time Lords made Troughton regenerate into Popeye.

Maybe that is what causes the Tenth Doctor's mole... Twisted Evil

You would also think that a little thing like the regeneration process would also take care of the fillings/cavities in the Doctor's teeth, but apparently not from what we can catch on a rare occasion on screen. Twisted Evil

    Cheers,

Perhaps it's some sort of tattoo for marking renegades, placed their during the Doctor's forced regeneration. Then again, he doesn't sem surprised to see it!
