| In what I think is a possible sign of DW's slightly increasing presence in the general American market, it's interesting to note that today, on season 2 premiere day, Tenant's accession to the role was the top story on their home page. Granted, Friday's a slow TV news day, but still it was cool to see Tennant front and center on a non-genre TV website. |

I checked out the zap2it site but it seems to be just a list of Links.
Is there a TV News page as such?
Do you have a full link to the story?
Thanks, daveac |

If you checked it out on 30 Septmber, it would've been too late. It was a one-day posting—y'know, just announcing what was on that night. But to give you an idea of where it was, you can go to zap2it and look at whatever story happens to be there at top. That's where the Tennant article would've been on premiere day.
Though no longer on the front page, the article still exists in their archives.
Just to give you a little background—zap2it is a major online television programming directory in the US. It might surpass even tvguide.com in terms of the number of times it's accessed, simply because most television recording software on TV-enabled PC's default to zap2it.com as their source of current programming data. It gives you these tiny little downloads that tell your TV recording software when to start and stop recording a particular program.
Another point in zap2it's favor: despite being a decidedly mainstream site, zap2it has run a decent article about every major development with DW on SciFi. They've posted an article a few weeks before the premiere of the Eccleston series, one the night of the debut, one announcing the July 4 release of the American Season 1 DVDs, an August 11 announcement of the pickup of Season 2, and finally this fairly major article on September 28. If you only got your TV news from zap2it, chances are you would've at least heard of Doctor Who by now. |
