| Second to Third Doctor - change or re-generation? |

I was also concerned that the Doctor must be running out of time, especially if actors decide to only stick with the role for a year before bowing out. Now I have a theory that the Doctor's life cycle was reset during the "Time Wars".
As proof, I offer the DVD sets. Christopher E's series is called Series 1. Tennant's first series is Series 2. (I couldn't figure out how they could call the 2005 series Series 1, having watched the show for years prior, but now it all makes sense.) Thank you BBC! |

I took that 'it feels different this time' was a sort of warning to us the viewer to expect a different 'type' of doctor - ie. a clue to Colin Baker's strangeness.

Apart from his appearance, he wasn't ghostly or disembodied. He's the one who brought Nyssa from Traken to Logopolis. So he must have access to some version of the TARDIS. I'm assuming he didn't just teleport her there. And even though he doesn't speak in the show, he must have talked with Nyssa on Traken to tell her that he was "a friend of the Doctor" and convince her to go with him.

Yes, since Colin's Doctor was going to have very rough edges after he regenerated that would eventually smooth out... but having a 'rough regeneration' offered an excuse to why the 6th Doctor is the way he is following his regeneration.
