Just watching BBC Four's re-showing of 'Ark in Space' with companions Harry and Sarah Jane.
Just thought I'd post this lovely screen cap of Sarah Jane for you all.

| I remember being creeped out by the Wiren years ago. Today they don't look quite as scary but this was a strong episode. Tom Baker really took command of the role in this one. He had that one great speech about humanity. |

Humans - indominable!
Yes - really enjoyed watching it again. And the sets don't look too bad either.

Well, they did reuse that set for another story that season, so they must have been able to spread the cost over 6 to 8 episodes instead of just 4. I forget how prominently Nerva Beacon plays as the location of the action in Revenge of the Cybermen. |

Yes - I'd forgotten they got double use out of the sets - thanks.

| This was my first journey with the Doctor. The Wirren scared the crap out of me. Now I love getting things with bubble wrap. Odd how times change. |

About reusing sets: I think it was a theme. They go to spacestation Nerva in Ark in Space, then they go down to earth and take part in the Santaran Experiment, then they are whisked away to deal with the Genesis of the Daleks, then they go back to spacestation Nerva and encounter the Cybermen.
I just finished watching Revenge of the Cybermen for the first time today, so it's fresh in my memory.
About Tom Baker, there was a dramatic change of some sort of quality to the show immediately starting with Robot, it seems to me. The show seemed to become more polished in some way that I can't think of how to describe.
I don't mean it's better. My favorite Doctor Who episode so far is the Web Planet, so my favorite isn't what I consider to be most polished. |
