Merlin, you remind me I should start watching the Declassifieds. I've only seen the first one or two so far... hard to find time right now, what with overtime hours at work and so many family obligations it's hard to sit down at night to watch anything.

I should make that a mission this weekend.

I really loved the "Doctor Who Confidentials". I love the behind-the-scenes view. I hope it's heavy on the technical and lighter on interviews. Interviews are ok, but I don't care as much about how an actor sees his suffering character, as I do watching how they make the special effects.

I guess being that kind of guy I can't help myself. I love watching documentaries on special effects having worked in TV production and computer animation for so long.

During the UNIT 20th I had a nice long chat with Mike Tucker who did all the miniature effects on Doctor Who as well as rebuilding K9. That's my area of interest.

One solid hope is worth a cartload of uncertainties.

Sean, you reminded me that I have to go back and watch the "Doctor Who Confidentials". I have an intrest in all aspects of production.
I played around with sound and video in its more primative years and I am "suffering through" Jacob Marley in "The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge" right now. Wink

I'm a Time Traveler, I point and laugh at archaeologist.

Oh dear!!! I've enjoyed Torchwood so far - and judging by some of the post here more than a lot of other people. However, for this episode I have only three words....

    ... Love and Monsters!

I just caught this episode now... and this was my first impression of it as well.. It tasted very much like Love & Monsters... (although a little less disappointing). But yes, I think you hit on the head. The lead guest character I found annoying... although not as annoying as Elton, but still enough to make me not interested in his life or death.

I also felt this was a poor placement for this story... We just came off an episode last week with the dead talking and coming back to life (albeit briefly here)... and here we go again.

    Cheers,
    Louis

    ...

Is it better than "Love and Monsters"?

Yes, Louis it's safe to watch.

Thanks... though I avoided this thread until I had a chance to watch it. I started watching it last night, but fell asleep on it. I finished watching tonight.

After it was over, I had the taste of Love & Monsters in mouth without even had known that it was being discussed here as such.

Yes, it is a bit better than L&A... but still not one of my favourite Torchwood episodes. Once again I found myself checking the time and wondering when it was going to be over.

    Cheers,
    Louis

    I loved it!

There was some real emotional depth to the show and the perspective of Eugene showed Torchwood in an interesting light. Consider this - if they haven't got the time to care for the common man then who have they time for?

Aren't they all about saving normal people from the scary future?

And the message in the end - seize the day - do it now - life isn't as long as you expect. Hats off to them. I really loved it.

Oh and all couples have issues - Gwen and Owen are having an affair after all - I wouldn't expect it to be smooth sailing.

    Practice acts of random kindness.

As an aside BBC Three had problems with their DOG - the episode started with a CBBC on screen graphic which then disappeared to leave the rest of the episode DOG free.

    Cheers, daveac

Just an excuse to put up a screen cap - the wrong DOG that they used - CBBC instead of BBC THREE

Okay - just watched this show again. I am utterly CONVINCED that Gwen is ploughed down by the Torchwood customised 4by4 with no one at the wheel !

Anyone else see this? Or am I just grapsing at long banana milkshake coated straws?

It's not very clear - the driver is hunched over the wheel so the 'seat' looks empty. Check out one hand on the wheel.

Wonderful! I have categorical proof now !!!!! I can go to bed and not worry myself over a potential plot clue that isn;t actually there!

    Big Grin
    Laughing Out Loud

    You're fabulous Dave!

Although it would have been a pretty awesome plot twist if he car that mowed down Gwen was the orchwood SUV!!! Oh well - one can only hope for complex plot twists in Who I imagine.

I was struggling looking for the damn driver for almost a minute before I realized I was looking for the driver on the wrong side for a UK car.

    Confused
