Russell T Davies Says No to Doctor Who Film  View Printable Version

    Doctor Who News

icWales.co.uk is reporting that Russell T Davies, writer and producer behind the return of Doctor Who to the small screen is refusing to bring it to the big screen.

"We would not have time to do a movie at the moment. Maybe if it was all over and still popular, but I would not be desperately keen to work with BBC Films myself. I'm not supposed to say this... but I can't bear them!" Davies stated in the article.

He continues, "I am in no rush to work with them whatsoever personally, but I suppose the BBC could have a go."

The BBC had stated last year that they would be interested in making a Doctor Who movie if the new series is well received in the US. It seems that they will have to do it without Davies though if they still have the intention of making a feature film.

Davies also made it clear in the article that he has no plans on bringing 'glamour model Jordan' on the series despite reports that she wants in on the show. "'No Chance' - bless her, but no way," states Davies.

    Doctor Who News

The BBC is reporting that both David Tennant (the 10th Doctor) and Billie Piper (Rose Tyler) are confirmed to continue their roles in the "third series" in 2007. This would dispel any rumours of Billie Piper leaving after the 2006 series.

It is also revealed == Minor Spoiler Alert == that Rose kisses the Doctor in the upcoming 2006 series. "...Although all is not quite as it seems," reports the BBC news article.

It continues, "Without wanting to give away the plot, it must be said that Rose is not responsible for the lip-smacking action."

Also mentioned in the article is that Russell T Davies would like to pull in more guest actors/actresses to the series even from Hollywood. On the top of his list is Sigourney Weaver, known to most science fiction fans for her role in Alien and Ghostbusters.

Davies also admits he would not have a problem with the Doctor regenerating into a woman. Though this is not an issue at the moment since David Tennant is eager to stay in the role for now.

    Doctor Who News

The Mirror in the UK is reporting that "the forthcoming series of Doctor Who will have a new version of the classic soundtrack recorded by unsigned British musician Kurgan Merrick."

The Mirror states that an insider disclosed, "It will be darker than ever before - in fact it's menacing and quite scary."

"The new theme tune is a lot slower than the one currently used. It sounds a bit like a distorted choir."

The report did not go any further than that. With the wonderful reception that the Murray Gold theme version has had with fans, it is hard to believe that the BBC would be going with another composition so soon.
