As we enter the next phase in our transition to our 3.0 website, please take note of our new RSS feed address for the new site:
http://gallifreyanembassy.org/vortex/?q=rss.xml
As more new stories are posted on the new site now and things are winding down on this existing one you may miss interesting articles being posted if you don't update the RSS feed address.
This does not have anything to do with our podcast RSS feeds. They will remain the same. See here for more information on our podcast RSS feeds.
Please update the RSS feed address if you are currently subscribing to our website feed.

Preview the new Gallifreyan Embassy website 3.0 today! June marks our 24th anniversary. As we head into our 25th year, we will do it with a new website. Although much of the content from this existing site has migrated to the new one, it is a completely new site from the ground up. This means you will have to re-register on the new site as your current account will not automatically work on the new site. Existing accounts will need to be recreated.
The new site has been in development over the last month, and while we are opening it up to preview and use now, please note that the new site is still being worked on and being built. Certain features we hope to have soon are still not there yet.
As with any change, there are going to be some pros and cons. We are using a completely different CMS (content management system) and thus there will be some differences from what we are used to with our existing site we are using now. Not every current function/feature will carry over, but it offers many other options not available now including some of the behind the scenes functionality that we will be of great benefit.
Today marks the beginning of the transition period to the new site. The domains gallifreyanembassy.org and podshock.net remain the same. If you are landing on our site bypassing our front splash page, you will eventually want to update your bookmarks, otherwise no need to make any changes.

Back by popular demand, our Second Second Life Meet Up on Saturday, the 16th of May All Day with a special event from 1pm to 4pm SL time (PDT) . Hosted in the land of Katrina and New Gallifrey.
No matter where you live in the world, you can join us live in the virtual world of Second Life as long as you have broadband internet access (and a capable computer, visit the Second Life website for details on requirements to use their client software). It is free to use and it enables us all to come together without the geographic borders and distance we face in our "first life."
We first had a virtual meet up way back in November 2006 which turned out to be hugely successful and popular. Since that time, we have been asked when we would organize another virtual meet up. Now is that time... Saturday the 16th of May to be exact. We are planning a special event taking place at a time to be announced soon, the meet up is all day long. Doctor Who: Podshock hosts will be on hand for the special event and we will on and off throughout the day on the 16th.

We would like to take some time out to thank those that have taken it upon themselves to donate to the Gallifreyan Embassy / Doctor Who: Podshock. The website and podcast is brought to you by support from vistors, listeners, and viewers like yourself. We always appreciated the support given by our audience, but now more than ever it makes a difference.
It's the holiday season and perhaps due to it we have seen donations pick up a bit. Once again, thank you so much. To that end, we have in addition to the open ended one-time donation (any amount you like to give) option, we have added a recurring option as well so that you can easily continue your support from year to year.
To make a donation simply go to Donations and Support or see the left sidebar block of our website.
If you haven't noticed, we also changed some of the affiliate store items in our Gallifreyan Embassy Stores and Affiliates. These affiliate relationships help a little as well.

Happy Birthday to Us, Happy Birthday to Us, Happy Birthday Gallifreyan Embassy.... Happy Birthday to Us!
It was twenty three years ago today that the Gallifreyan Embassy was founded. We are approaching our quarter century mark, and we are still going strong. This new interactive site that took the place of the previous static site three years ago just passed the five million marker in hits. Our podcast, Doctor Who: Podshock is downloaded and listened to by thousands.
Thank you all. To all our website visitors and listeners and supporters - Ambassadors all - Thank You.

As many of you have noticed, the site was down for the most part of the day today. It is back up and going for the time being, and we are hoping it will stay that way.

Today marks the 22nd anniversary of the Gallifreyan Embassy. Since this year marks the 44th anniversary of Doctor Who, it means the Gallifreyan Embassy have been around for half that time. Wow!
As we did on our 20th anniversary (see the article: 20 Years Ago...), special thanks goes to all those in our 22 year history that has made the organization what it was, what it is today, and what it will be in years to come.
Who would have thought back in June of 1985 that we would still be doing this more than two decades later, and now on a world-wide scale? Amazing? Mind blowing? Incredible? No... just fantastic!

The first ever virtual meet-up for the Gallifreyan Embassy / Doctor Who: Podshock was a huge success. Doctor Who fans from all over the world were able to come together in one place, albeit a virtual one to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of their favourite Time Lord. Using the Second Life virtual world environment, we all materialized in The Land of Doctor Who throughout day on the 23rd of November, the anniversary of the series.
In attendance from Doctor Who: Podshock were James, Colin, Russel, and myself, Louis were joined with many other regular contributors and listeners.
Many thanks to all those that attended, and those that attempted but could not (either for reasons of the Second Life client software not running on their system, or due to conflicts with the Thanksgiving holiday in the States). Extended thanks to Merlin (Mike McCarley) and Dawg for their help with the event, and special thanks to Bazzerbill Eccleston (Second Life names) for allowing us to host the event on his land.
We will be organizing more virtual meet-ups soon. Next time not coinciding with a major holiday we hope. Look forward to details in upcoming podcasts and this site. 6 comments

All are welcome to join us in the newly formed Gallifreyan Embassy (Doctor Who: Podshock) team at the SETI@home project.
What is SETI@home?
SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data.
Use this link to join the SETI@Home Team - Gallifreyan Embassy (Doctor Who: Podshock). It is free. Who knows, perhaps it will be your computer that discovers the first TARDIS visiting Earth (and you don't have to be living in Cardiff either!). 5 comments
