During the Pride of Britain Awards, Christopher Eccleston presented Cameron Weir with the Child of Courage award as a double life-saver.
Cameron, then 12 was in a 4x4 vehicle with his mum, dad, 10 year old sister Rosie, and 7 year old brother Mac when the car his dad was driving hit a metal barrier and plunged down a hill into the water, landing upside down.
Cameron unfastened his seat-belt and swam through the broken window to the surface. Realizing he was the first to escape, he took a deep breath of air and returned to the underwater wreck to rescue Mac first, then again for Rosie who has severe mental and physical disabilities.
"I was scared, but it was all happening too fast, and I didn't really think about what I was doing," Cameron stated.
Actions surely that would make the Doctor himself very proud of Cameron. For the complete story, see: The Mirror: THE PRIDE OF BRITAIN AWARDS: CAMERON'S A SAVIOUR AT THE DOUBLE

Appearing in more than 250 films and television shows, Roger Brierley may not have been a household name, but he left his mark. Doctor Who viewers may know him as 'Trevor' when he appeared in episode 8 of The Dalek Masterplan with William Hartnell and as the voice of 'Drathro' in The Mysterious Planet with Colin Baker. He was 70 years of age when he died of a heart attack on September 23, 2005.

"Swansea has been besieged with Cybermen and Daleks all weekend," reported Roger White, the promoter of Regenerations, a convention celebrating more than 40 years of Doctor Who held at the Marriott Hotel in Swansea, Wales on Sunday, September 25th. He stated, "It's been a complete sell-out."
"The real hardcore followers have been there since day one, but Russell [Russell T Davies] helped raise the profile tremendously. People have been turning up from all over to attend, making this the biggest convention in Europe for about 10 years."

As previously reported, Doctor Who will be coming the very tiny screens of mobile phones... The BBC is now reporting that Christopher Eccleston series of Doctor Who will be coming to the larger screens of the Sony PSP (Playstation Portable). The new series is being produced on the proprietary UMD disc format (used by the PSP) by 2 Entertain starting October 17th with the release of Doctor Who Volume Two. You read that right, they are starting with Volume Two, which features the episodes Aliens of London, World War Three, and Dalek all on one disc.
Volume One, Volume Three, and Volume Four will then follow this release in December some time (in time for the holidays). Be prepared to shell out £17.99 for each disc.
So when will we have an actual modern Doctor Who game for the PSP or one of the home consoles?

The Boston Globe newspaper has rated The Top Science Fiction Television Shows of All Time and within that list among the top ten Doctor Who ranks as number 8 in the list. Unfortunately, it appears the newspaper is completely unaware that the series has been renewed with new episodes this year, and new episodes planned for the next two years as well and hopefully onward.
"Sure, many of the monsters were terribly cheesy, but it is a classic nonetheless," states the article.
Actually if you realize that the classic series has not been broadcast in the U.S. in some number of years now and the new series has yet been broadcast at all yet in the U.S., it may be a miracle that Doctor Who even made this mainstream list at all, let alone making it within the top ten.

Last month on August 21st, Robert Moog passed away at age 71 from a brain tumor. Although perhaps not directly involved in the creation of Doctor Who, he did play a role in the series old and new. As Bob Moog (rhymes with "vogue") had invented the Moog synthesizer which gave Doctor Who it's signature sound. From various revisions of the theme music to many of the special effects sounds, to the famous (or infamous) Dalek voices. Even today, in the 2005 series, Moog synthesizers continue to play a role in the sound of Doctor Who.
The Dalek voices of old and the new series were created by speaking into a ring modulator, a device invented by Bob Moog. If not for Moog, the Daleks we know and grew up with may have a completely different sound.
