If you haven't yet had an opportunity to catch this mini episode, Time Crash starring Peter Davison as the 5th Doctor and David Tennant as the 10th Doctor created for Children in Need, you can watch it online on the Children in Need site. The story takes place between the end of last series (Last of the Time Lords) and the upcoming Christmas special, Voyage of the Damned. Catch the 8 minute episode now as it will most likely only be available for a limited time (as was the case the last time a mini-episode was produced for Children in Need in 2005).
While you are there, feel free to make a donation to Children in Need. After viewing it, discuss it here. 1 comments

Lucie Miller lives on. Or at least that's what Big Finish want you to believe. The radio companion, who debuted on Radio 7 earlier in the year, has now crossed over into print. Eddie Robson, who wrote several of her adventures in audio, has now written her first appearance in another medium. The story, "Remain in the Light", is a part of Big Finish's Short Trips: Snapshots volume, published last month. But Big Finish aren't playing hard to get with Lucie. Those wishing to read the Lucie story, can now read the whole thing online. 2 comments

Last Thursday, ToyNews announced that so-called "classic" Doctor Who will be getting some brand new toys.Character Options have been given the go-ahead by BBC Worldwide to start production on "detailed replicas of classic Doctors, plus a number of monsters." The range will start to hit at least British stores next spring. Jon Diver, a managing director with Character Options said, "The classic licence will broaden the collectibility and enhance the position of the brand." Thanks to Christian Cawley at Kasterberous for pointing us in the direction of this story.

As of today the website TvShowsonDVD.com is reporting that the R1 North American Series 3 release, due out Nov. 6 will have a different cover than the R2 release. Where the R2 release features the Doctor and the Master back to back, screwdrivers at the ready, we here in North Amercia will get a picture of The Doctor and Martha running side by side. It seems to me they want to keep the companion/doctor cover theme going for here and not for the UK. Just thought I would point that out. 4 comments

Comic news powerhouse, Newsarama are reporting today on news from the San Diego Comic Convention, the industry's largest public gathering. Doctor Who will be getting its own, original American comic book. While Doctor Who fans have concentrated on the heavy BBC presence at the convention, which has included a Torchwood panel, writer Stve Fritz cornered former Big Finish boss, Gary Russell, for a long interview about the Doctor's comic adventures. Along the way, it was revealed that Russell will be writing a new Doctor Who comic for IDW, publishers of comic versions of several television properties such as Angel, 24, CSI, and Star Trek. Nick Roche will handle the artistic chores. The comic will begin as a limited run series, with each issue containing a single story. The Tenth Doctor and Martha will feature, with stories that have a mixture of new enemies and old, including what Russell describes as "something from waaaaaay back in the series history."

We earlier reported on a poll being taken by UKTV Drama under the banner of "Who is the Greatest Doctor Who?". The results are now in and, after over 18,000 votes, David Tennant has won by a large margin. In fact, Tennant very nearly got more votes than all other Doctors combined. As in an earlier Doctor Who Magazine poll, Tom Baker was his runner up. However, the distance between them in this poll was much greater. David got 8866 votes to Tom's 2891. Also, unlike the DWM poll, Christopher Eccleston very nearly unseated Tom for the number two spot. Full results: Tennant 8666 T. Baker 2891 Eccleston 2694 Pertwee 1527 Troughton 513 Davison 392 Hartnell 373 C. Baker 331 McCoy 314 McGann 140 As with all online polls, the results are not statistically valid. However, it is anecdotally believed that many of the respondants to this poll were drawn from the general audience base, as opposed to DWM's poll which typically registers "serious" fans. 1 comments

David Tennant's website revealed on Saturday that a Doctor Who video game is to be released this Christmas for PC, PS2, DS and Mobile platforms. It is being developed by Top Trumps, manufacturers of popular media-themed card games. A brief advertisement for the game began appearing inside the newest iteration of the Doctor Who Top Trumps card pack. No trailer or details for the game have yet been released. While a PC release would seem to make the game available to customers worldwide, it is unclear at this point whether the NextGen versions will be released in NTSC for Region 1 customers. There's also no word yet whether Trumps will develop the game wholly on their own, or perhaps combine with Ubisoft or other games makers, as they have done with other releases.

Hadn't seen anyone else posting this, so thought I'd pitch in. It's official: Martha Jones will be back in Series Four, though not for the entire run. She'll rejoin the Doctor and his new companion midway through the series, but not till she's appeared in three episodes of the spinoff "Torchwood."
Also, Kylie Minogue has been confirmed as being the special guest star of the Doctor Who Christmas special, "Voyage of the Damned." This of course after the production team had denied Ms. Minogue would be coming to the show. Then again, they denied that Martha was leaving at the end of this season, and that Rose was leaving at the end of last season...you get the picture.
And who will be the Doctor's new companion? Well, she isn't exactly new...Catherine Tate will reprise her role of Donna Noble from the 2006 X-Mas special, "The Runaway Bride." Ms. Tate will join David Tennant for the entire 13-episode run of Series Four.
Here's the links to the official announcements for each item, in the order they were referenced above.
