This Week In Doctor Who - Section A
July 3, 2010 - Vol 13, Number 24
by Benjamin F. Elliott

All the known broadcasts of Doctor Who covered weekly since 1998. With the spinoffs too.

SCANDINAVIA and SOUTH AFRICA - In the North of Europe and the South of Africa, Sunday 4 July sees the last new episode of the 2008 series - Journey's End, broadcast on the BBC Entertainment channel in each country. If that seems a bit behind, remember that Germany has only gotten the 2005 and 2006 series so far.

Robert Greenwood Chosen to Receive a Free Autographed Book, The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who

We are happy to announced that Robert Greenwood is the first of two randomly chosen Podshock Supporting Subscribers to receive a free autographed copy of the new book, The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who.

As previously stated (see: The Mythological Dimensions of Doctor Who Book Give Away for Podshock Supporting Subscribers), we have two copies of this new book that studies the mythological influences on the long running science fiction series, Doctor Who which were autographed by contributing writers and editors, Anthony S Burdge, Jessica Burke, Kristine Larsen, and Melody Green at the book launch event in NYC at Fiddlesticks in May.

We are giving one copy away in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Gallifreyan Embassy and another for the 5th anniversary of Doctor Who: Podshock.

Austin Doctor Who Meetup Group at the Dog and Duck Pub July 10th

Please join the Austin Doctor Who Meetup group at the Dog and Duck Pub on July 10th to meet other Austin area Whovians, compare favorite companions, and speculate about season 6. The Dog and Duck is a beer and wine pub with an extensive menu (but sadly, no fish custard) and many non-alcoholic selections.

Hope to see you there!

if you've never seen the Nickelodeon series, AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER, just go out now and buy all three seasons and watch the greatest TV series ever made and its unaired pilot. If you only know AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER from this mediocre movie, don't let it put you off watching the greatest TV show ever made.

Just saw this and I must say the movie is just about perfect. I'm no TWILIGHT fan but this movie rapidly can make me one or has made me one. I tried to read the first book and balked at the writer's style. It's just not my cup of tea. THe first movie was okay I'd give a 7 out of 10. The second movie was leaps better, a 9 out of 10. But this movie is a 10/10. The story is good, Kristen even manages to make Bela smypathetic and likeable somewhat, Robert Patterson acts his socks off and NO ONE looks better than Taylor Lautner. The settings and locales just cannot be more beautiful and the cinematography is stunningly visually gorgeous. Rob manages to finally give the vampire an old age wisdom that makes him overcome his lovelust and realize his love and his intelligence comes to the fore to nt only make him seem older than both Bela and Jacob but to use it to forge a relationship with both.
