When did the Ponds encounter the Ood? The Ponds encountered the Ood in The Doctor's Wife. He was a green eyed Ood called Nephew.
And yes, that was a funny line. Rory (Arthur Darvill) really did a great job with how he reacted to what he saw in the bathroom and in how he attempted to dissuade Amy from going there.
Cultdom Commentary: Doctor Who – Asylum of the Daleks
Ian, Mike and Dave observe some odd goings on at a local tearooms and later at the beach, thinking they might be going mad they decide to sit down and do this weeks Commentary: Doctor Who – Asylum of the Daleks Series 7 Episode 1
The show's already aired worldwide and is available on iTunes.
A spoiler is any element of any summary or description of any piece of fiction that reveals any plot element which will give away the outcome of a dramatic episode within the work of fiction, or the conclusion of the entire work. I suppose if you haven't seen the episode this could spoil it for you, however the outcome was not revealed nor was the conclusion. I'll change the title if that helps.
"The Doctor -- the last of the Time Lords -- travels through space and time, using ingenuity to foil the forces of destruction and domination. Normally he travels with a companion, who helps keep him grounded. The Doctor is over 900 years old and is able to survive death by regenerating into a new body; his ship, the TARDIS, is bigger on the inside than the outside and, though it should be able to change its outward appearance, is stuck in the form of a blue police telephone box from the mid-20th century."
Okay, so it's fashioned after the hit move. And? It's a story telling device, a portal. It gets you from here to there, but there isn't Narnia and that's where the similarity ends.
Doctor Who is unique in its premise. That it borrows from pop culture, literature, art, etc. seems inevitable. If it didn't it would exist in a vacuum, devoid of reality. Take away the wardrobe, Vincent van Gogh, A Christmas Carol, minotaurs, angel statues and pirates and you've erased more than 6 episodes simply because they aren't totally original?
I like the Doctor's ongoing brushes with reality. In addition to "keeping it real" they open the door to his sometimes naivé take on human behavior. More often than not, his observations as well as the predicaments in which he finds himself are downright hilarious, but not so without legitimate touchstones.
Weeks after everybody has figured out the premire for the new series of "Doctor Who", both BBC and BBC America have placed the information about the premire.
Ian, Dave and Mike reach the Last episode in Series 1 of Luther and just in time too as the wine is almost gone. But have no fear there is just enough left for this weeks Commentary: Luther Series 1 Episode 6.
Previously there have been titles for the first three stories have been announced but now there is an update. BBC's "Doctor Who" website has announced the titles for the remaining stories that feature Amy and Rory as companions.
The titles are:
(White text to prevent spoilers)
1 Asylum of the Daleks by Steven Moffat
2. A Town Called Mercy by Chris Chibnall
3. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship by Toby Whithouse
4. The Power of Three by Chris Chibnall (previously referred to as Cubed on Doctor Who New Network)
5. Angels Take Manhattan by Steven Moffat (title not previously released).
That is all the stories that will be aired until the airing of the yet untitled Christmas special that introduce the new companion (rumors say her name is (whit text) Clara - still not confirmed) played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.
Now comes the hard part - waiting until the episodes air. Until then you can read the story about the titles on the BBC's "Doctor Who" website here:
"BBC America’s celebration of Doctor Who continues with a second season that captures the best of everything Doctor Who. Comedians, fans from the celebrity world and beyond have weighed in on their favorite destinations and female characters of Doctor Who as well as if they’d rather stop time, go back in time or look into the future. Our Doctor Who aficionados also weigh in on their favorite Doctor Who gadgets and how they would use them given the opportunity and explain what makes them the ultimate Doctor Who fan."
Just thought I 'd add to this comment by letting you know that the titles and release schedule has bee set for the last stories with Mary Tamm. The schedule is this:
Jan 2013 - The Auntie Matter.
Feb 2013 - The Sands of Life (part 1)
Mar 2013 - War Against the Laan (part 2)
Apr 2013 - The Justics of Jalxar
May 2013 - Pantoms of the Deep
Jun 2013 - The Dalek Contract (part 1)
Jul 2013 - The Final Phase (part 2)
A couple of notes about the stories:
The April story features the guest appearance oif Jago and Litefoot.
The final two episodes have Romana I encountering the Daleks.
K-9 appears in stories 2, 5, 6 & 7. There are possibly more but's that all I see with K-9 listed in.
They have also announced that a new series will be made with Leela as companion again in 2014. No word if K-9 will be with them or not, but I expect that Big Finish to continue with the stories that take place after "TheTaolns of Weng-Chiang" and before "The Horror of Fang Rock".
Dave, Mike and Ian have trouble getting the Piano down the stairs so they stop to have a cuppa and work on this weeks Commentary: Luther Series 1 Episode 5
Thanks for the BBC confirmation and the information about Tom Ward also being cast in the special. Like yourself, I am not familiar with his work. I don't think I had seen him in anything as of yet, unless I saw that the H.G. Wells thing he did, I don't recall if I saw it or not.

I too was trying to remember when they encountered the Oods... Thanks for the refresher. Yeah, 'The Doctor's Wife', that's right.

The best line...
"Ood on the loo."
That made me laugh.

I don't get it. What is Doctor Who all about?
The wardrobe again?!This sucks. I am sure it is fashioned after the hit movie.
