The Snowmen
The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
Other than the Master flying and fazing in and out of Skeletor mode, I thought this was a fantastic episode! This is definitely a game changer. I won't say much, because of some major spoilers, but I had a room full of cheering people at the end of it.

I really hope part 2 is better than part 1. My disbelief suspenders broke about 15 minutes in. I nearly turned it off when the Master reformatted the human race in his image. Slapstick is not what I want in Doctor Who.
I agree... the reformatting of the human race was a little too much. It is dangerous calling for reviews as this point because it was a weak first part. However, I am holding high hopes for part two. The last few minutes of Part 1 was more than I could have ever hoped for since the first episode of the new series. It had me cheering out loud!
I don't know if it was just the insane build-up to this story, or if it's genuinely justified at the moment, but as of right now I'm extremely disappointed with part one. Loads of odd things happening right and left, with little or no explanation as to what any of it means. Even if it all comes together in part two, tied up in a nice bow, that doesn't really excuse having an entire hour of story that made so little sense. RTD's stories have never been this unfocused before.
After that, things begin to fall apart. Next, The Doctor shows up on the Oodsphere. The only reason I can see for using the Ood for this is because the BBC already had the costumes available. Their only purpose in the story is to provide The Doctor with information that he doesn't already have.
The rebirth of The Master seemed more like something out of Harry Potter than Doctor Who. His subsequent superpowers don't add anything to the plot, either.
The Naismith/alien regeneration machine plotline seemed very thin, but not as thin as the presence of the two green aliens.
Heck of an ending, though. Could see it coming a mile away of course. The "They are returning." line from the Ood didn't leave much room for doubt.
Enter: The Conquering Chicken
all applauding at the "Master Race" part. We all thought it was brilliant. The more Masters they showed, the more we cheered and laughed. I thought it was genius!
I watched both parts again last night and still loved them, although there were more parts I didn't like this time around. Over all though I loved them both, but I can't wait for the next season! Matt Smith is going to be brilliant!
