Can 'Doctor Who' live forever?

The Guardian has this story about the plans to remove the 'rule' about regenerating only 12 times. It states that in 'The Sarah Jane Adventures' that the issue will be addressed.
This could 'in theory' make the Doctor immortal. I'm not sure how I feel about that or how accurate the story is so I'll leave that for the future.

Cheers!
ADDITIONAL:
I found this additional story from 'Den of Geek' about this so I thought I'd add it to this story as well.
Has Doctor Who just solved the regeneration problem?
I'm sure we'll hear more about this as things continue.

The Snowmen
The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe
in the early days, the Doctor WAS Immortal or at least it was said so in WAR GAMES, barring accidents he and his people could live forever...
That said, the show shouldn't live forever if what we're currently getting continues. Who could tolerate such crap that long?
Russell T. Davies said in a recent interview that the he didn't think that the new idea about regenerations would stick.
