The Best Series Ever Made
Here's a random list of the best shows ever made IMO. I decidedly don't like shows that others like such as the livid limp I LOVE LUCY and the horrid LAVERNE AND SHIRLEY. I also know the value of but never became a fan of such shows as SEINFELD, FRIENDS, and wanted to become a fan of but just couldn't of WILL AND GRACE. Other shows start off funny and interesting but phase out such as THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN. Other shows have great ideas behind them but not one truly good episode such as LOST. Others start off GREAT but end up terrible such as HEROES. I may or may not put some of these on the list.

Of the four hundred or so shows you mention, I have only ever followed about 20 of them religiously (i.e wouldn't miss an episode if at all possible). There are probably another 20 or so that I wouldn't turn off if I found them on (mainly american sit-coms).
However, the vast majority, I have either never watched, never heard of or have actively turned off, as mind numbing drivel!
Even many I watched as a kid (Logan's Run, The Six Million Dollar Man, Airwolf, Automan, Street Hawk) are dreadful when re-watched today. Even the nostalga factor cannot save them from their obvious awfulness. It is testament to the really good shows (Dr Who, Star Trek, The Avengers, Space 1999, UFO, Sapphire and Steel, Lost in Space) that they still seem to have merit today. This doesn't even apply to just the really old shows, I rewatched the first season of the X-files recently and thought it seemed pretty poor (and I was a fairly hardcore x-files fan in my time, at least for the first three or four seasons).
One advantage of growing up in the UK with only three channels (which basically never showed re-runs) was that they sifted through the dross and typically only US shows of some merit (even if it was just in the things exploding catagory) ended up on TV.
This being said, BBC2 did pick up Quatum Leap for some unknown reason.
Rather than just listing everything made, why not recommend those series which are particularly worth watching (for their quality, not just nostalga reasons - particularly if you have rewatched any episodes recently just to confirm this fact). I for one like to be pointed to particular episode of exceptional quality, especially if they are availble on Netflix, or similar rental service.
Chase - I started to read through the list, and it just kept going and going and going and going!!
and the remake of Kolchack the Nightstalker wasn't that good in my opinion.
it was badly written and missed the point of the original series.

TWIN PEAKS is an awful show, boring, repetitive, silly in all the wrong places, just boring and crazy i a bad way IMO of course.
As for the new NIGHT STALKER if you've watched the unaired eps and still feel that way, then I wil just accept to agree to disagree but the unaired ones were probably the best ones and most like the TWLIGHT ZONE and the old NIGHT STALKER with a touch of newness about them. I still think this New Night STalker would have worked if they didn't call it that and didn't name him Kolchak.
without twin peaks there wouldn't have been shows like Lost or The X-Files!
the show took chances and inspired other tv shows to do so.

Great list, for the most part... but, SCOOBY DO? Are you serious?!
X FILES is more likely owing to NIGHT STALKER and FRIDAY THE 13TH THE TV SERIES than TWIN PEAKS. TWINS is just boring.
X FILES has a readhead (F13 Micki) who is a skeptic (F13) paired with a man who likes comic books and hauntings and sci fi and conspiracies (F13 Ryan). Their adventures do not always end well and their is some sexual frustration and geniune scares. For a real F13 pre X files X Files see SCARECROW. As for NS, the makers of XF tell us that NS was an influence. Monsters of the week! All three shows have them. The only monster I ever saw on TWINS was the script and that silly midget thing.
as for LOST, it sucked from day one right to the sad predictable ending. Horrible show. For a better show that was years ahead of LOST see PETER BENCHLEY'S AMAZON. Not a perfect show but at least it told an adventure and not some wandering, supposedly character driven (it wasn't) borefest like LOST.

if you think those two are the best series ever made then i think your opinion on what are the best series ever made is questionable.
