Blackadder Creator Richard Curtis to Write Doctor Who Episode
Richard Curtis, known to most for creating the popular Blackadder series starring Rowan Atkinson and for romantic comedies like Four Weddings and a Funeral has told The Sun that he will be writing a story for the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith).
Curtis, aged 52, revealed, "There will be a monster. And a famous historical figure will battle the monster." He can not reveal much more.
Some of speculated that the historical figure could be none other than Sir Edmund Blackadder himself. Though this is just speculation.
BBC News has also reported on The Sun article which adds creditability to the news that Richard Curtis is indeed writing an upcoming Doctor Who story.
He told The Sun that it was because his three children are such massive fans of Doctor Who, he wanted to impress them by signing up to write for the series. "It's tremendously good fun and a treat for my children," he explained.
"These days the things you can watch together as a family are much fewer so when you get something like Doctor Who or The X Factor it is such a pleasure to sit down as a family."
He also mentioned that he is interested with time travel. Therefore it does seem fitting that he has go with it on the longest running time traveling series.

I try to stay open minded about most things but the fact that Richard Curtis is writing an episode of Dr Who fills me with dread. He has written (with the exception of Blackadder which was co-written with Ben Elton) some of the most twee, saccharin, cliche riddled crap that has ever been on TV or film. Vicar of Dibley is probably my least favourite TV show ever. Just look up the word twee in the dictionary & there will be a picture of Dawn French in her vicar outfit. He had a hit Four Weddings and then rewrote the same thing over and over. Everything he has done since then has sunk like a stone. If I find out that Hugh Grant has been cast it will be the rotten cherry on a rotten cake. My faith in Stephen Moffat is being tested !
