Sarah Jane Adventures Series 3 Transmission Dates

Administrator - Posted on 16 September 2009

Sarah Jane AdventuresThe latest issue of Doctor Who Monthly magazine has published the transmission dates for the 3rd series of The Sarah Jane Adventures according to a recent post on sarahjane.tv

Breaking away from the usual one episode per week format, series 3 is to present two episodes each week. Adopting a Thursday and Friday schedule, the first episode debuts on Thursday, the 15th of October, followed by the second episode on Friday, the 16th of October. It continues on with an episode each Thursday and Friday until the close of the series on Friday, the 20th of November.

Of course, this means the series will conclude twice as quickly as it had previously, being it is only running 6 weeks instead of 12. Though you will be getting one complete story each week.

The two episodes per week format is a move that echoes back to when the BBC experimented with doing the same regarding Doctor Who during Peter Davison's era showing two episodes each week.

Below is the schedule of episodes. WARNING: Episode titles can be considered spoilers

  • Prisoner of the Judoon Part 1 - Thursday October 15th
  • Prisoner of the Judoon Part 2 - Friday October 16t
  • The Mad Woman in the Attic Part 1 - Thursday October 22nd
  • The Mad Woman in the Attic Part 2 - Friday October 23r
  • The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Part 1 - Thursday October 29th
  • The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith Part 2 - Friday October 30th
  • The Eternity Trap Part 1 - Thursday November 5th
  • The Eternity Trap Part 2 - Friday November 6th
  • Mona Lisa's Revenge Part 1 - Thursday November 12th
  • Mona Lisa's Revenge Part 2 - Friday November 13th
  • The Gift Part 1 - Thursday November 19th
  • The Gift Part 2 - Friday November 20th

It seems to me the 2-ep per week format may have something to do with finishing in time for the DW specials at the end of the year.

It looks like this schedule is reminiscent of the Davison era where you got two parts per week.

Have we done the crash of the Byzantium yet?

Awesome!  Thanks for the dates!  I was wondering!  As far as the abbreviated season goes, at least its only less time and not fewer episodes like Doctor Who and Torchwood!!
