1 Year of daveac vblogs!
daveac vblog 052 is up on blip.tv
I won't normally 'blog' on this page about individual vblog episodes - the links are elsewhere on this blog - but since I've reached 1 full year of vblogging I though a post here would be nice.
'One small vblog for a man, one giant entertainment for mankind'
I've now been doing these vblogs for 1 year! Blimey!
Slightly dis-organised as I've been watching the British Open Golf :-)

Doctor Who: The Next Doctor on DVD
The 2008 Christmas special, Doctor Who: The Next Doctor is scheduled to be released on DVD in North America on the 15th of September 2009. Oddly (but not Oodly), this comes approximately six weeks after the scheduled release of recent special Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead (available on the 28 July on DVD and Blu-ray).
The Next Doctor stars David Tennant as the 10th Doctor along with David Morrissey. The DVD has a suggested retail price of $14.98 in the US. This single-disc release will include a 60 minute bonus feature of Doctor Who at the Proms. The usual trailer, sub-titles, Dolby Digital 5.1 are included as well. No word about an audio commentary, but one is assumed to be included.
Australian Torchwood: Children of Earth Trailer References the Doctor
The latest trailer for Torchwood: Children of Earth shown on Australia's UKTV has Gwen Cooper references the Doctor.
On a related note, word now is that the BBC in the UK will be scheduling the transmission of the new five-part mini series, Torchwood: Children of Earth now between the 4th - 10th of July. If this is the case, it goes against the previous information of the BBC and BBC America showing them during the same week.
An Introduction to Our Second Life Meet Ups
As previously announced, our Second Life meet ups are now seasonal. We will be holding them on a regular basis. Last month, we had our very successful Second Second Life Meet Up which took place after a long gap without any. Victor1st of the land of Katrina on Second Life prepared a video that introduced Doctor Who fans to the Doctor Who Experience on Second Life. He had also created a new one specifically for those attending our meet up.
Although our Second Second Life Meet Up was last month, this video still serves as a good introduction to Second Life for our upcoming meet ups. Our next will be in August. We thank Victor for making this greeting and tour for those attending our meet ups there.
Mug Shots of Paul Cornell and Tony Lee at the DWNY Meet Up
In February 2009, Doctor Who: Podshock (Ken Deep, Billy Davis, and Louis Trapani) attended the DWNY (Doctor Who New York) Meet Up. Also attending were special guests Paul Cornell and Tony Lee. During the event, DWNY President, Barnaby presented the two with DWNY mugs, here is a short video clip of the presentation.
Mind of Evil by Billy Davis
Doctor Who: Podshock Special Correspondent Billy Davis created this tribute to The Master with his song and video, Mind of Evil. It was presented at Gallifrey 19 at the conclusion of the Doctor Who: Podshock Live on Stage Show.
Second Life Meet Ups Now Seasonal
Thanks to the enormous success of our Second Second Life Meet Up in May, we had an overwhelming amount of requests at the event for us to do it on a more regular basis. To that end, we will be holding Doctor Who: Podshock / Gallifreyan Embassy Second Life Meet Ups now regularly.
Second Life is a virtual 3D environment that enables club members, listeners, website visitors, and all Doctor Who fans to come together to meet up, talk, dance, hang out, party, etc. no matter where you live. All that is needed is broadband internet access and the free Second Life client software (and a computer capable of running it). It breaks down the geographic barriers and make it easy for us to connect. It's the next best thing to being there in person.
