It saddens me to say that we've lost another Doctor Who vetran. Peter Halliday passed way on the 19th of February. It's taken a while for the information to filter out, Peter for most shall be remembered as the unfortunate, violence happy Packer in The Invasion along side Patrick Troughton and Kevin Stoney. But it was not to be his only role, he also did voices for The Silurians and Ambassadors of Death in Jon Pertwee's 1st full Season. Then going on to star as Plectrac in Carnival of Monsters.
Later he appeared along side Tom Baker in the City of Death, as a soldier, and finally along side Sylvester McCoy in Remembrance of the Daleks as the Vicar in the closing moments of Episode 4.
Doctor Who: Podshock will be once again be taking to the net this Sunday, 25 September 2011 for a live-over-the-net show reviewing episodes of the new series, this time it's Closing Time.
This video has been in the making for some time now as I have seen various earlier incomplete versions of it over the last few years now I believe. Originally created as a mock trailer by OtaKing77077 (on YouTube) has expanded into a mini-episode. Because it was originally meant only as mock trailer, it lacks some narrative. It is done in the style of 1980's anime featuring 1970's Doctor Who mostly (it is a 3rd Doctor Jon Pertwee story). It features many original voice clips of various characters from the series as well as some original vocal work. Almost every iconic aspect of 1970s and some 1980s Doctor Who is depicted here except K9 perhaps.
For some reason the video had been pulled from YouTube, someone else had posted it again in the above.

Elisabeth Sladen's passing and other Doctor Who news, Anthony S Burdge and Jessica Burke report on the Doctor Who 2011 NYC Premiere event, feedback, and more.
This week is the annual CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, which means there is a tremendous amount of tech related announcements coming out of the show. As often is the case, there is some crossover between tech and sci-fi. The Panasonic booth had a special "most impressive" (as they termed it) announcement of (pre-orders for) the Star Wars films coming to Blu-ray. I had heard there would be a TARDIS speaker system at the show, but didn't have much details on it. Engadget has come to the rescue (since I am not at the show myself) with this report of hands-on prototype of the new Speakal TARDIS speaker dock and Bluetooth speaker and IR remote control system.
I am assuming it will work with the iPhone as well as the iPod. The photos show an iPhone in the dock (a white at that). If the speakers are shielded enough to prevent GSM radio noise interference from the iPhone, it should work.
Every year, for the last few years, just in time for the holidays, 'TardisTimegirl' releases an animated Doctor Who related video on YouTube. A holiday treat for all Whovians. Last year, it was the immensely popular, '2001: A Who Odyssey' in which she combines the classic 1968 Doctor Who serial 'The Wheel in Space' with the film '2001: A Space Odyssey' which was released the same year. So when the holidays rolled around this year, I checked her YouTube channel and was disappointed not to see any new animated shorts for this year's holiday season. So I was surprised and delighted to see that a new short was released over the New Year's Day holiday.
Once again, using the 2nd Doctor story, 'The Wheel in Space' as the backdrop, she poses the question of what would a trailer look like for it if the once BBC set designer, Ridley Scott (who later went on to direct Alien among other films) made it? What follows is another awesome computer animated (CGI) trailer for Doctor Who: The Wheel in Space done in the style of 1979's Alien film by Ridley Scott. Thank you, 'TardisTimegirl.'
Turn off the lights and watch this in full screen mode. Enjoy!

Once again London was invaded by the Cybermen! This time around it wasn't some diabolical scene of Tobias Vaughn, but publicity for the newly opening "Doctor Who Experience" in london. The same steps used in the iconic Patrick Troughton era story "The Invasion" were used once again. Later on the Cybermen marched onto the London Underground.
The Doctor who experience will open in London on the 20th of February 2011. more photos below. www.doctorwhoexperience.com.
As far as releases for Cybermen figures from character options, this year has really been a storm. With the Earthshock Cyberman at the beginning of the year, to the recently released Silver nemesis twin pack of Cyber lieutenant and Cyber Leader. To the Pre-orderable Revenge of the cybermen set due in November. It left me puzzling what could Character Options/Underground Toys bring out next Cybermen wise. Well that wish list has been cut down even further with this Double pack of the 6th Doctor and Cyber Scout. For me this is a double goal As I collec t 6th Doctors and Oh boy DO I COLLECT CYBERMEN! I personally would have made this set the Cyber Controller and Cyber Scout from attack of the Cybermen, but due to the silly prices going for the Standard 6th Doctor I am more than happy about the nature of this set. Since the original 6th Doctor release was brought out in a blister pack with a singular Part of the K1 robot from Robot to collect, trying to get hold of this figure for a "Reasonable Price" has been an absolute Nightmare. As to the cyberscout, it saves me time and effort of trying to customise an Earthshock cyberman to look like a cyberscout.
In another Forbidden Planet exclusive, the 6th Doctor and stealth Cybermen collectable figure set will be available 01 October 2010. Available for pre-orders today for shipping to the UK and Ireland now for £24.99. This set includes the 6th Doctor and a Stealth Cyberman from the 1985 Doctor Who story Attack of the Cybermen.
