Emma Campbell-Jones made quite an impression on the Eighth Doctor and on Doctor Who fans as "Cass", the companion who almost was, in "Night of the Doctor".
This wasn't Emma's first encounter with the Doctor. She worked with Matt Smith and company in "The Wedding of River Song" as Dr. Kent. This beautiful and talented actress has made appearances on Red Dwarf, Silent Witness, and recently Law and Order: UK.
Emma Campbell-Jones is a star on the rise and now we'll get a chance to see why the Doctor was quite smitten with her!

If you only watched ‘An Adventure in Space and Time’ and ‘The Day of the Doctor’ anniversary special as part of your 50th anniversary of Doctor Who celebrations, then you're missing out. ‘The Five(ish) Doctors’ is thirty minutes of fun and delight spearheaded by Peter Davison which chronicles some of the past actors who played the Doctor in their efforts in being included in the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special. It’s a real treat for long time fans, that also offers up some delights for new fans. The video is embedded below.
Wow! We weren't expecting it unit this weekend, but surprise, it's here now! It's the first of many surprises in this new mini-episode "prequel' to Doctor Who: 'The Day of the Doctor' entitled, 'The Night of the Doctor.' Enjoy!
Richard E. Grant has been cast in the upcoming 2012 Doctor Who Christmas special. The news came from a tweet from Doctor Who Magazine today. It's interesting to see an official-unofficial past Doctor actor return to the series. You may recall that Richard E. Grant was the original 9th Doctor in the Scream of the Shalka, a story written by Paul Cornell. This animated adventure was produced prior to the television series being relaunched in 2005. We reviewed Scream of the Shalka not too long ago in Doctor Who: Podshock 267. In it, we discussed Richard E. Grant's portrayal of the Doctor and how Scream was the forerunner of Rose.
Wow - what a cool series of portraits, and they can be yours! An amazing group including Paul McGann, Sheridan Smith, John Simm, Catherine Tate, Richard E. Grant, Mark Gatiss, Noel Clark, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tim Pigott-Smith, Sylvester McCoy, Michelle Ryan and David Morrissey:
This is all for charity too. Win-win (see below:).
"Grace, I came back to life before your eyes. I held back death."
Doctor Who: Podshock - Episode 229 EXTRA Edition
Running Time: 1:15:48
In this Extra Edition of Doctor Who: Podshock we include our interview and Q&A with Daphne Ashbrook (Grace from the 1996 Doctor Who movie) from last month's 25th anniversary event for the Gallifreyan Embassy.
As we previously announced, the Doctor Who 1996 Movie will finally be released as a region 1 DVD in North America. It has long been available on region 2 (I had my copy for some time now), it has been tied up in release rights issues between the studios involved (BBC, Fox, Universal) for a region 1 DVD release since the movie first aired.
We were pleased to report that it would finally be coming to region 1 with the recent revisiting of the DVD (a new re-release edition). Up until now, we didn't have a release date other than 2011 for this 8th Doctor adventure starring Paul McGann and Daphne Ashbrook. Now according to tvshowsondvd.com, BBC and Warner Home Video have announced that it will be released on February 8th as a 2-disc set titled, 'Doctor Who - The Movie: Special Edition.'
It coincides with the release of another 2-disc set 3rd Doctor story, 'The Mutants' starring Jon Pertwee as the Doctor and Katy Manning as Jo Grant on DVD.

Not only do you get to hear McGann reading extracts from Shackleton's diary, but you get to see a Silent Film. It will be good for you and you will thank me later. And here's an image from a cool new website called, well, Eff Yeah Paul McGann. You're geeky; you'll find it if you want to.
Earlier today I got some brilliant news for all North American Doctor Who fans. Fellow Doctor Who podcaster, David Hooie released an unusual for him short podcast. Within the podcast one of the guys in charge of the Restoration team had the excellent news That the 1996 TV movie had just got the go ahead for a US release, after some hard negotiations with Universal, the owners of the rights in the US and Canada.
